So my hair isn’t real thick like yours. I use Reuzel Green Medium on day one and then I add Murray’s Super Light on the following days on top of the Reuzel build up.

People say Murray’s Super Light isn’t a true Super Light, that it is more of a medium, but I definitely notice a difference between Reuzel Green and the Super Light if I use the Super Light alone.

This is the one I use (don’t buy the one without the Barber pole, it’s different). Murray's Super Light - Orange/Black 3 oz. (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAA3Q0S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_t5.2DbXF752K1

So, maybe try putting in the Murray’s Super Light first and see how it goes through your hair. It has a lot of shine, which might help make your hair not so dry looking. You could see how it does on it’s own, but I imagine it won’t have the hold you’re looking for by it’s self. So, after putting a little Murray’s Super Light or some other Light pomade in, try to put in the medium or heavy you already have and comb it through. It MIGHT go in easier and give you the hold you want with a wet look. I’ve never tried this since my hair isn’t thick.

You can also mix the light pomade with a heavier pomade and that might help it go in easier too.

Another thing you can try with the ones you’re having problems applying is to heat them up with a hair dryer so it’s as warm and thin as possible. Just rubbing it together with your hands might not be heating it up enough to get through your hair.

Trial and error! Hope some of that works!

Edit: I see you don’t want shine. 💩 Sorry! Perhaps those tips will work if you can find a lighter pomade with a matte finish, if that exists.
