Brown algae is common in a new tank. Mine got it too. It will eventually die off. Buy a light off Amazon.

Keep it on from morning til bed and do a lot of water changes. Before you run off and get a snail in a panic remember a lot of them won't eat brown algae and the ones that do are prolific breeders. As the tank cycles the algae will eventually go.

I haven't started using co2 yet, but I'm going to try this weekend. I definitely can't afford a full setup, so I'm going to do DIY until around Christmas when I can ask for a full high tech setup lol.
