SF bay area pricing is worth it for the lack of bugs alone. if you want to be done with the bugs, lather on some Deet. if you're not keen on the chemicals, there's a few brands of repellants based on essential oils. You've got to use them liberally, and reapply often, but is generally effective and you'll smell much better than the Deet route.
