Can it be done? I'm sure the parts can be purchased to make a square peg fit in a round hole. Is it going to do you any good? It's debatable... I seriously doubt the speeds would be capable of getting you any kind of efficient connection speeds between the CPU/Ram onthe MB and the GPU, in order to give you any kind of increase in rendering speed,
as for the bottleneck in your connection
USB 3.0 speeds (500MB/s)
mini PCIE speeds.(250MB/s)
PCIEx16 = 985MB/s
So the mini PCIE is going to bottleneck you greatly, and no telling what your adapter will limit you to. (it's designed for mining)
hard to say what your final FPS increase would be, dont spend too much on a GPU
Here's another best case use. and the video keep in mind, this guy is getting 40 FPS on halflife 1! granted he's using a quite small/cheap GPU, but it's hard to say if using better one would net any real results. (also 15 FPS on portal)
250/985 = 25.38% of the normal bandwith!
Honestly my suggestion would be save your money to build a new PC!
