A charcoal face mask is an actual product.

Blackface is racist, 100%.

This snap, however, just seems like the Thrive Presidential candidate just made a bad joke at a bad time. It seems like she put on a charcoal facemask as part of a normal beauty routine, and then she used that opportunity to make a bad joke. I dont think she purposely put on the mask to make the joke, I think she just made the joke in passing without thinking much of it.

If all of this is worth dropping out of the race, thats up to you.

I'd recommend starting slow. Start with a mild foaming cleanser, a basic moisturizer, and a sunscreen. If you want to add more stuff on for your acne, check out /r/SkincareAddiction and /r/AsianBeauty. Their sidebars are seriously amazing.

But for a cleanser, you can't go wrong with CeraVe foaming cleanser. It's cheap, easily available, and gentle for any kind of skin. There's a bunch of theories on which kinds are best, but I've seen all sorts recommend this cleanser.

Moisturizer is really key as well. Dry skin can cause acne just because your skin is craving moisture! CeraVe and Aquaphor as well as natural stuff like Jojoba oil or Coconut oil have been talked about a lot as good options here. I'm still in search for a really good one I gel with. I do use as a light moisturizer Mizon's Snail Recovery Gel as it also clears up small cuts and inflammation as well. Be patient with this step, as some moisturizers can break you out.

Sunscreen is honestly like 100% of skincare, I'm convinced now, after plunging head first into the two mentioned subs. I use This Japanese one cuz it's cheap on Amazon and has one of the highest pH ratings out there. This Korean one is also highly praised online.

But the fun part I really like? MASKS! OMG MASKING! I love wash offs like Origins' Charcoal Mask (great for acne!) and Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask are both awesome choices! I'm also a big fan of sheet masks (they put the good-for-you goop on a piece of fabric so it's easy to apply). These are the ones I usually buy because it's a great value and they work amazing. You usually only mask for 15-20 minutes and it's like a mini me-time spa-time for me. Doing this like twice a week has done wonders for my skin!

Have some fun with your skincare journey! I'm having fun with finding my perfect self pampering routine. It's more a form of self care for me now, so I feel a little sad if I miss any steps at this point. Hope that helps some! :)

I LOVE my Clarisonic. I know there are mixed reviews here, but I work in gross-ass theaters/outside/am sweaty, in addition to living in NYC and I wanna be clean.

Balm's Away makes waterproof/long wear anything wash right away.

Purity cleanser is another culty thing, but seriously, melts off make up, without that gross stripped feeling. And it smells nice.

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic in the AM and Nude Treatment Oil at night have made huge strides in not only my moisture level, but also my gross cystic acne scars. Without my face looking like an oil slick/aggravating my sensitive/acne-prone skin.

CeraVe In The Tub is as good as everyone says

Korres Wild Rose Brightening Eye Cream is MAGIC if you have dark circles. MAGIC.

Origins Clear Improvements is my go to "I'm going out and don't want people to see my SF's" mask. It sucks everything out (and brings lurkers to a head), and makes me look flawless, at least for the day.

hope that helps :)

If you haven’t tried already, I’d suggest definitely looking into Activated Charcoal. It’s praised for its ability to draw out impurities in the skin, balancing out oils, reducing acne, and shrinking pores.

I highly recommend using a charcoal mask product likeOrigins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask that you use weekly, plus a high quality exfoliating charcoal based face cleanser. I use Boacia Charcoal Cleanser daily.

These have helped me to dramatically reduce my pore size and get rid of blackheads.

Basically you want to make sure you’re sucking out that dirt on a daily basis and balancing you sebum.

Thanks, I think I've seen it, we're talking about this one right?

I'm using a skin neutral cleanser with an pH of 5,5 from a German brand with an electric face brush or a konjak sponge. After that I'm using the [Bioderma Sebium AKN] (https://www.amazon.com/Bioderma-Sebium-Smoothing-Purifying-Unisex/dp/B0052EOHM6/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465759930&sr=8-1&keywords=bioderma+sebium+akn) chemical peeling with 2% salicylic acid and 10% citric acid. My moisturiser is the [Clinique moisture surge extended thirst relive] (https://www.amazon.com/Clinique-Moisture-Extended-Thirst-Relief/dp/B00OAYFGRY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465759971&sr=8-1&keywords=clinique+extended+thirst+relief) and in the evening [the overnight mask] (https://www.amazon.com/Clinique-Moisture-Surge-Overnight-Types/dp/B00AN5TRKG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465760040&sr=8-1&keywords=clinique+moisture+surge+overnight) from the same series. When I need to put on make up I'm additionally using the precleans from dermalogica. One time a week when my skin feels very greasy, I'm using the [origins claymask] (https://www.amazon.com/ORIGINS-Clear-Improvement-Active-Charcoal/dp/B004W75SLI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465760085&sr=8-1&keywords=origins+clay+mask).
