These inexpensive wifi dongles are proven to work OOTB under Linux, and on the T60 as well as three other Thinkpads. You can research each one as you wish:
No problem! I was one of the original testers when Duke & others were brainstorming the idea of how to exploit the "NZone Relays". We kept tinkering and figured it out! I coined the "HomePass" term and created the logo for it on my spreadsheet. The rest is history! And I'm so glad it's still working!! (plz Nintendo don't kill it!)
Yeah I was aware of the Edimax adapters not working. Spillmonkey has been working on a new Spillpass image with the RPi2, and he confirmed the Edimax adapters will not work (he tried compiling as well to no avail).
Curious about the Panda Mini Wifi (this one correct?). So you got it to work, but you had to add a few extra lines to your script cycler to sleep the device. I'd like to add this device, w/ your script if possible, to my spreadsheet for people to utilize. If you don't mind sharing!
You might be able to get a $15 USB dongle for WIFI and create a hotspot once you're connected on a Laptop.
I'm not guaranteeing that this will work but it could be worth a shot.

What I meant is that you connect to the wifi on a laptop using your internal card, then make a hotspot using the wireless dongle.
I do this at my dorm. I connect via ethernet and then broadcast my own wifi using a dongle.
Also: It's important to note that most of the time schools block ports. Even if you find a solution it might not work still.
