I have a Frenchie, and his restraint makes it so he can stand on the arm-rest and stick his nose out the window, that's as far as he can go. Someone thought I should get him one of those booster seats and I was like "Hell no! He'll just use it to jump out the window, even with a restraint!"
I'm so sorry this happened to your guy but glad he'll be okay. This is the restraint I have. Because the attached leash is really short, there's really only so far your dog can go. You just have to make sure when you set it up, that you lock down the seatbelt (by pulling it all the way out - it can take an attempt or two). The velcro is insanely strong, and if you put it on the lap portion of the belt, your dog is pretty well stuck to the seat.
