Have you ever read Finding the Game? It has an accompanying documentary called Pelada. Amazing film. The book is even better.
The premise is that a boyfriend and girlfriend who were both soccer stars in college, but not quite good enough to make it to the highest level (MLS, and WPS had folded), travel the world for 3 years playing pickup. Honestly, it's one of the most powerful books I've ever read. They go to China, Iran, the Andes, you name it. At one point they play a pickup in a jail. It is honestly the best example of the beautiful game brining the world together that I can think of. Please, check it out.

Honestly, spend the couple of bucks to at least watch the documentary. It's worth it
