I have left reviews for things I didn't buy on Amazon but but from other sites because of a sale or some other reason... Generally, they are pretty good reviews, though.

If it's a shit product I don't feel the need to write a review.

In fact, I left a review for the keyboard I made this comment on

I don't have any recommendations for wireless keyboards but I bought two of these these wired keyboards recently and I love them. The always-on backlight was more important for me than wireless. No issues with Mint compatibility and the eight macro keys are fantastic for quick, repetitive tasks. They're the kind of loud clicker type switches which I sort of like.

As for mice, I still use my old wired Logitech mouse with my primary Linux desktop... with one modification. I opened it and put lead fishing weights inside with hot glue to keep them from rattling around. I prefer heavier mice so the tension of the cable doesn't slide it around when you let go.

For various other systems where I need wireless, I got several of these mice. They have an odd power saving feature that shuts off the mouse after ten or fifteen minutes of use and turns it back on when you press a button. That was odd getting used to but it doesn't bother me. Compatibility seems to be great on all systems I have used them on.

Unless you go second-hand you are unlikely to get to that price with those specs and even then, only if you get lucky.

I'd suggest trying to stretch a little further and go for something like a Perixx Mech which is backilt, fullsize, has macros, uses Cherry switches, and has a standard bottom row too so you could replace keycaps fairly easily if you wanted to later on.

with blues

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NY45NCY/

With browns:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-PX-5200-Mechanical-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B010GM7ESM/

If you're willing to settle for no macros and OTEMU rather than cherry switches (they're louder blue switches that have been pretty positively reviewed so far) then you could go for a HAVIT magic eagle:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Keyboard-HAVIT-HV-KB376L-Mechanical-Switches/dp/B0154G6SRS/

Otherwise, check your local second-hand sites: craigslist, gumtree etc. I've seen Corsair fullsize boards go in that price range.

u/kazez2 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

That wouldn't be much of a problem if OP a are not planning to change it in the near future, unless you break it (how would you break it anyway lol).

Anyway OP, if you still want Corsair but cheaper try looking up Corsair Strafe or Corsair k65(no numpad). You also might want to check out Rosewill keyboard.

Edit : Found this

I found the Sentry Gho5t on sale with Cherry MX Black switches
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I9CUOAW?psc=1

Then I stumbled across this one for almost half off and has Cherry MX Blues
http://www.amazon.com/Perixx-PX-5200US-Mechanical-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B00NY45NCY/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1419023117&sr=8-26&keywords=cherry+mx+keyboard

The Perixx I have had some experience with before and had no complaints they also have fairly good reviews across their product line.

I have also found that there are some very good no name brands out there. Many times they are the brands that actually manufacture the products for names brands or sell them to the the name brands as OEM products which they then put their own logo and or case on it.

Only thing I could find for that price. Don't know about the quality. Mechanical keyboards are expensive in Italy.

u/evilHamsterzZz · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have the Corsair K70 [non RGB] with Cherry MX red switches. If I were you I'd get a K70. My friend has the Razer Blackwidow with the custom Razer green switches. He loves it.

Before you buy a mechanical keyboard tho. You really need to try out each switch. You could either buy one of these to test it out, or you can go to a local computer store that has keyboards on show.
If you end up buying a mechanical keyboard without testing the switches out first. You may end up hating your keyboard.
Most people like the MX blues [the clicky ones].

I like the MX reds though because you can't feel a bump when you push down a key, and because they are pretty quiet [unless you bash your keyboard]

There are lots of mechanical keyboards on the market. You could go all out and get a Ducky keyboard or get a pretty cheap one like this one

If you want macros then you can go for a Corsair K95 which has 18 macro keys. If you want less macros then you can go for the Logitech G710+ which has 6 macros.

Just remember to try out each MX switch, and you should be good.

u/Maysock · 1 pointr/buildapc

CM Storm Devastator combo (membrane) - $30

A solid wireless logitech membrane - $25

Inexpensive offbrand AULA mechanical using Kailh Blues, a chinese knockoff of cherry MX's -$40

A rosewill keyboard with ALPS switches, clicky :3 $50

Nice backlit Perixx board with Cherry MX blues. $80

Much past that and you're getting into name brand mechanicals that are fantastic, but expensive. These are just some decent keyboards for their respective prices.

What's with the hate on gaming keyboards with a standard layout and bottom row with a Standard layout and bottom row "gaming" keyboards? other than Coolermaster

Like the Perixx PX-5200 for just $70 with Cherry switches

Or Gigabyte K83 for $80

They both have a standard bottom row and aren't "gaming" designed

I couldn't find any full size "normal" mechanical keyboards with Cherry switches and those prices on Amazon
