I had this problem but I’ve started spot doing seachem excel and it’s done wonders. Kills algae and the plants are going nuts.
I turn off the filter and my surface skimmed, then spot treat with seachem excel using a long syringe like the one I linked below. Wait 10 minutes and then turn on the filter and skimmer. You don’t want to get excel on your hands. Spot treating every day is the only thing that’s gotten it under control. Just simply dosing the water column didn’t work. I started with the recommended dose and then increased bit more each each day. No die off yet, except algae.
