...I just did a surround sound test (on youtube) and... you're right. I didn't realize the microphone on my headset can swivel to be on the left or right. I've always worn it on my right and assumed that it was meant to be on that side. Even the picture shows it on the left...

I feel really dumb right now, and it explains why the game has felt really slow to me (unable to locate enemies by sound).

I have been using these, which were recommended to me by another digital nomad. I ended up buying a couple pairs to send to my team in the Philippines. [Plantronics Audio 478 Stereo USB Headset](
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VAORH6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The price of these seems to fluctuate between $22 - $28/each.

What is nice, is that they fold nicely for traveling, and have a mute button on it. I also like that it is only USB, unlike other headsets that have the small plugs for mic and headphones, which plug into a separate USB device. Without fail, those always break on me

It would not hurt to also pick up a couple of these pop-filters. I bought one, but promptly lost it. I'm sure you can get these things for less than a buck if you go to the right place.

These are a very good brand at a VERY good value at less than $30. Lightweight, comfortable, folding headset.

The H390 is great. Its what we issue at work, for people who want a headset for web meetings. So maybe ~2,000 people have used the H390 without issue in the company. No complaints on audio of mic - it has been our standard for at least 3years. Its been around a while as well (since 2007 according to google).

If you are looking for other additional recommendations - I replaced my H390 with a Plantronics PLNAudio 478: https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-PLNAUDIO478-Stereo-USB-Headset/dp/B005VAORH6/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1500482335&sr=1-5&keywords=plantronics+voip+headset

This one looks to have been discontinued - but is still for sale on Amazon for ~$40USD. Sounds quality is excellent (much better than h390). Mic quality is roughly the same.

Not the answer you want, but I can vouch for these, both good and affordable, I own a pair at work, at home, been recommending them to coworkers for VoIP phones, they're even good enough for music. The mic cuts out echo and background sounds (most fans, people talking, etc). If they charged $50 for these, I'd still buy them. My only complaint is the mute button wears out after about a year but at $25 it's hard to complain, I just bought a new pair.
