Specs:
For the ones I'm gaming with (usually a team of 8-10 Skylanders so every element is represented) I keep them on the Battle Arena so they're Right There when I need them, and they look good (and organized) when not in use.
I also have a display shelf for the extra-display-worthy ones that I don't usually play with (rare or interesting or good-looking ones that I just like having).
A lot of the rest I have out of sight. I think if you pack too many too close together, they become a jumble rather than a display, so a big collection looks good if you have multiple display shelves to spread them over, but I don't have that so I only have my favorites on display and the rest are just in a box. If I do badly in a level and need reinforcements, then I can reach for the rest, but I try to complete levels with just my chosen "Dream Team" :)
