It doesn't hurt me personally but I can see why you would have that problem.
Imagine wiping off honey off your eyelid with a paper towel over and over again. It would leave the skin raw. Now the butthole must be several times more sensitive. Your vigorous efforts to wipe the sticky mess is most probably leaving your butthole raw.
To mitigate the use of TP, you could try using water to clean up. A handheld spray bidet [like this one]

I am also a very strong advocate of alcohol-free, fragrance-free baby wipes. Since they are made of cloth, they are very soft on your skin unlike TP which can be rough. Also, baby wipes are wet to the touch, which provide relief to your bum.
