As a somatic therapist and survivor of this same kind of trauma (so many of us...all genders and sexualities and ages too!), I agree. Yoga, meditation, true THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE, clinical aromatherapy are all ways to return our consciousness to the body.
The OP mentions Cathy O’Brien, who wrote a book about healing her Complex PTSD, which I found beneficial in my early recovery. When we wake up and reframe old situations by realizing how cultivated and insidious this abuse and dark humanity is, it is re-traumatizing.
Those of us who have healed or at least have a foothold on our healing from any kind of enslavement, abuse, mind-control, gaslighting, or persecution must now help our fellow humans who are waking up to this.
We can love one another through the healing process and make safe relationships and learn how to feel better. Anyone traumatized learns to disassociate, which isn’t a conditional healing state. Learning to recognize and heal Complex PTSD is essential for human survival.
