> She sounds crazy the way she talks about your daughter like she believes some part of her is really biologically hers when there is absolutely no shared DNA that comment about wanting her baby to look like her was really disturbing because 1)It's not her baby and 2) she's not blood related too it how would it look like her? It sounds like she's starting to slip into a delusion and sometimes really believes part of that baby is hers.
I had the same thought!
> Maybe her baby's soul or something?
I totally believe that's possible. I've read Carol Bowman's book Return From Heaven: Beloved Relatives Reincarnated Within Your Family and there was one case involving two children who insisted that they were their Aunt and Uncle's children. Aunt had suffered a miscarriage several years before (twins), and was unable to have children. But the kids came back so they could remain in the family.
But even if it's the same sort of situation here (and believe me, I'm absolutely not saying that it is!), SMIL needs to step back and let /u/pantherpurple parent the child, because this time around she's not SMIL's child.
> It's not ok and not your responsibility to handle her emotions. I would talk to FIL and your husband about this!
Bingo!
