Another good alternative is to hang dry them. I used to just put the hangers on the frame of the door, but then my grandma bought me a couple of these and I love them.
I'm not sure where she got them, but they look exactly like the ones sold on Amazon. I also found this rack and it looks great as well.
At my mother's house, she hangs them on a rack but she has more space than I do.
I find that there isn't much difference to hanging them this way for blouses and pants. I only lay my sweaters to dry.
My family has been drying our clothes this way for about 10 years and there is a HUGE difference in how long our clothes last.
The over the door shoe holder /u/rainbowfrapp mentioned is one I'd suggest, the pockets allow for things besides shoes - I have one inside my upstairs closet that we have gloves, scarves, and dog stuff (poop bags, collars, leashes, etc) in it to store. I have them in both my kids' rooms that hold shoes, belts, etc too. It gives extra space.
I have over my bedroom door one that is a long bar for hanging with coat hangers all my cardigans similar to this for lots of extra space
for one of my kids, I have a closet that sits in the corner so she has space for stuff, hers is a wood one, so she can put shelves and stuff in it.
this gives great storage on the side bed - book, tissues, pen paper, just some things nearby when you're already in bed reading homework etc.
these are great for sliding under bed
and I havea couple of these in closet that add help with pants, sweaters, etc.
LOL can you tell i'm a mom that tries to maximize space in her house?? xD
