In 1989, the original Gameboy launched at $89.99, which adjusted for inflation is $172.65. This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 which is not only slightly cheaper than the adjusted price, but is miles ahead in game choice, size and weight, and graphical abilities.

Maybe check out the Galaxy Tab? The $140 one is the same size as the current Kindle so it's in the same price ballpark.

I would guess that now around the holidays is a good time to buy a tablet because the new year is usually when the newer models come out. For your case you can also use camelcamelcamel in order to check prices on amazon and look at the trend.

[Here] (http://camelcamelcamel.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-7-Inch-White/product/B00J8DL78O) is a link I found for you. I hope it helps.

considering a low end samsung is 180 without a dock controllers or cable, it seems reasonable. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-7-Inch-White/dp/B00J8DL78O

But yeah that is ridiculous in mexico. Sounds like you're getting fucked by the exchange rates :(

Those would be my considerations for that price range. They should all do what you want to fairly well. Obviously you'll have to weigh the options as far as screen size and internal storage goes. Almost all of these tablets also have different versions. The 32GB tablets I listed all have cheaper 16GB versions, and the 8" tablets all have 7" variants as well. I just included some different combinations for variety.

As a note of comparison, unless you get the 2nd generation iPad mini with the retina display, the screen is an 8" 1024x768, the lowest resolution amongst them. That's the main mark against it because while the specs of the mini are also paltry in comparison to those above (1GHz dual core, 512MB RAM), it's an Apple so it doesn't matter as much.
