Lowest price, apart from black Friday.

It is not necessary at all to overclock. You will gain 20% performance on the cpu side (which seldom is the one limiting games), and you will pay a lot more than 20% more, if you add in the costs for the cpu, the mainboard and the cooler needed to enable this.

There is not much benefit on stacking ram over 8GB. The prices currently are not high, this is the one argument. But otherwise it is very easy to upgrade ram when it is needed.

SLI is not a good option. It does not give a straight performance increase (I saw you got that already explained) and it introduces possible faults and stuttering. Maybe it will be a great thing in the future, but currently is is not.

Having 2 500 GB SSDs might sometimes be cheaper, otherwise it does not matter.

The 850W psu is heavily overpowered for a single gpu system you should strive to have. Also note that the GTX 980 Ti is absolutely overpowered for 1080p gaming– on which resolution do you want to play?

To give you a better basis, this is what a normal gaming PC should look like, modified to have a big SSD:

pc-kombo recommendation

Type|Item|Price
----|:----|:----
CPU | Intel Core i5-6600 | EUR 235,10 @ Amazon.de
Motherboard | MSI B150M Bazzoka | EUR 79,90 @ Cyberport
Memory | G.Skill Value 4 (8 GB) | EUR 41,99 @ Atelco
SSD | Samsung MZ-75E1T0B (1 TB) | EUR 309,95 @ Amazon.de
Video Card | Radeon R9 390 | EUR 319,90 @ Caseking
Case | Fractal Design R5 | EUR 109,11 @ Amazon.de
Power Supply | XFX P1-650G (650 W) | EUR 86,63 @ Amazon.de
| Total | €1182.58
| Generated by pc-kombo 27.01.2016 |

And there are many many valid options for the case, many cheaper than the R5 (but that's a good one).

A the price for a GB of a 1 TB SSD is almost the same as the price for a GB of a 512 GB SSD.
I would ask the teacher how he would generate 2705 scam 5 star ratings on Amazon for this SSD

I have 'checked my shit' for fucks sake, stop being so delusional.

Do the maths, I can buy 4 roughly 1TB HDD's for the price of 1 1TB SSD, this by the way is from the same fucking manufacturer. What is wrong with you? Claiming I'm ignorant for fucks sake.

You can't argue with the maths, so stop trying.

basically I was looking at these, M2 ssd and 1tb SSD

Apologies for not being clear.

(Price for new items , in GBP):

I can find them from 200 up to 400 but there are also many good ones in between there too. Like this one

I dunno if it's a good idea to buy SSD used, but I wouldn't.. There might be cheaper retailers than Amazon too but I'm not all too sure about that.

Well at this price i think it's quite the bargain and it has a very solid performance. the samsung evo 850 ssd is slightly faster but isn't on sale at the moment.

u/themadnun · 1 pointr/hardware

That must be MSRP or something. The gap I see is usually £5-10 between any of the models.

EG, OCZ Trion 100 960GB is £222, Samsung 850 Evo 1TB is £224

Even on a hardware site (though Overclockers.co.uk are a little price-gougey anyway) BX200 is £229, 850 Evo is £249

That is a great peace of SSD. It's 2.5 inch vertion is only £30 cheaper atm with a deal on.

Being a Linux nut I'm running all different OSs at a time. I currently have about a dozen that I use. I keep them all to 250GB and I move the partitions around and on and off external HDDs. Masses of duplication. Its the reason I need the DVD to keep all my distros on.

I've not had an SSD before (besides USB sticks). The 2.5 inch could well be a later upgrade/addition. I can always do with more storage!

What do you mean by "better"? If you mean faster, then almost any SSD will be faster, and something like the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB is a solid choice. However, if you mean faster with the same capacity, I don't know if you're going to find a 1TB SSD for under £250, let alone £100. You can get a hybrid drive, like the Toshiba H200, which under certain circumstances will perform better than a non-hybrid HDD.

If you are willing to spend the money, then the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB is a good option in my experience. I have several of these running 24/7 and haven't had a problem yet.
