Don't just buy any adapter though. You need to buy an active converter or else it won't work. Such as this one

Could my model M be converted to USB using one of these active adapters? It's a lexmark model M, part number 82G2383.

I was thinking that I could mount the converter inside the keyboard, wire up the PS/2 internally, mount a mini USB port to the outside of the case, then wire up the USB side of the adapter to it.

Has anyone used either of those two apaters? the SANOXY one is a lot smaller, and would probably be easier to fit in the case, but the Ziotek one is the only one I've heard of for the model M. Would my idea work? Has anyone tried it before? Is there enough room in the keyboards casing to fit either of the adapters?

Most desktops have a PS2 keyboard port and I have an adapter for that. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS/2_port

As far as the price is concerned, I actually prefer trades. I am just starting with mechanical keyboards as a hobby, so I could use some supplies (switches, caps, cables, etc) but also am into 3d printers, electronics, etc. If you rather do cash maybe $50 + shipping. I would rather meet up (I am in the Hillsboro area) than ship since it will not be cheap to ship due to size and weight (around 5lbs.)
Either way, you have to promise to treat it well and not gut it since it is a bit of a classic.
