Get 15% Tint on all the windows except for the front which has 50%. Make sure said tint has great UV blocking properties (Not all tint blocks UV). Now clean the car to absolute perfection (or just get a really good detail) and prepare for the next steps. To protect the Top and Interior from fading spray them down with some scotchgard for carpet, seats, and other fabric surfaces and get some Armorall products to completely clean your car. Make sure to wash all of your glass as well and get an Air freshener so your car doesn't smell like shit and your good to go. Doing this will keep your cars interior looking like new for years if you keep on top of it.

Howdy neighbor!

In my experience, even the native snakes keep to themselves, just don’t leave out food that would attract prey like rodents or even bugs in some cases. You’re much more likely to see a snake while hiking during the day, if at all.
Also, make sure you don’t leave on any bug-attracting lights on while you sleep. Biting bugs and their predators (like scorpions) will be your biggest concern imo.

As far as the extra water goes, I’d look for a stash bottle or tote that easily can conform to other gear in your pack without leaking.
Something like this-

Warming up with an overnighter may help with some of the psychological obstacles, too, or at least give you a better idea of what they will be and what to bring next time to help cope.

As far as the gear protectant, I would caution you away from anything what can be rubbed or worn off, like silicon coating. I used scotch guard. It’s oil based and soaks in nice and deep. It has worked well so far, I have it on my pack and my tent (my tarp came pre-treated or else it would’ve gotten a coat too)
