Yeah, they make them, and they are amazing.

I have a set like this. That isn't the exact set I have, mine are Shun but were much cheaper as they were a Woot Special. They are the super nice, super sharp steel though. Easily the sharpest knives in my house.

I love them. IMO they are better than serrated because they slice the meat so damn well. There isn't any 'tearing' motion to cut through a steak, it just cuts right down, perfectly smoothly with no effort. It almost seems to keep more juice in the steak for that reason (less trauma to cut it).

Ironically, when I use them (which is rare) I don't worry about the plates, but the knives. Using knives like that on ceramic (or other things plates are made out of) is pretty bad for the knives. Mine are already a little more dull than when I first got them, and I haven't used them all that much. I'd imagine that's why most steak knives are serrated.
