Purchase an OTA over the air HDHomerun, the premium channels (2 min free demo of each channel) will automatically work. Scan in the premium channels first (use http://my.hdhomerun.com) then scan in your OTA channels next, use a paper clip or a TV antenna plugged into the Antenna input of the HDHomerun and run a scan for your local broadcast tv stations.

Yeah, you need a tuner card. They come in internal, USB, and networked varieties.

The latter two types can also be used with an Android TV box using the Live Channels app, as I mentioned before.

I feel like if you're going to get a standalone tuner box, you might as well get a HDHomeRun, not a HDMI box.

This tuner will not connect to your AVR via HDMI. It connects to your network via Ethernet.

It takes the OTA TV channels you get from your antenna and can stream them to you via your network or the larger internet.

Just install their app on your phone, Roku, Xbox, whatever, and you will be able to watch your OTA channels without an extra HDMI or coax cable being run to your living room setup.
