I'm using one of these for my 2nd monitor. It's more stable than the shitty stand that came with my old Samsung panel so now I'm planning on replacing the Samsung stand with a shorter mount like this. Easy to put together but you do need two people to safely install. One to hold the screen while the other is under the desk clamping everything down but once it's tightened down properly its rock solid. I was surprised for how cheap/tall it is.

There are double/triple arms but I figured having two standalone ones would give me the most flexibility down the road. All, of, the, free, standing, ones, I could find look terrible and are expensive compared to the desk clamping arms.

Not sure if you're still looking, but I have my Acer Predator X34 on this stand:

It's a very small stand, and probably underrated for the weight of the monitor, but I have a specific seating arrangement requiring me to have the stand almost level to the desk itself, which this stand allows for. Works fine, is still adjustable up and down if needed (I have it all the way down equal to the desk itself). Also tilts front to back and side to side if needed. It looks similar to the one you were looking for.

A google search for "VESA stand" brings up plenty of options (e.g.). I guess it's a matter of digging through them and finding a good one at a decent price.

It's just a regular LED monitor mounted on a desk stand like this.

You can buy VESA stands that work with pretty much every monitor that allow all kinds of adjustments. Most of them will be for multi-monitor and/or mounting on a desk/wall but you can get single monitor desktop stands like this and this

This sounds like the type of thing where an expert is definitely the person to ask, but I can give you some ideas at least.

Maybe looking into an Intel NUC and small peripherals. A small wireless mouse and a thin wireless keyboard would be very easy to carry, and you can pair that with a small thin monitor. The only bulky thing would be the mount for the screen, but it would be something like this but with greater height adjustment.

The student would bring the mount, the screen, KB+M, and the NUC. This is basically the pole for the mount, 2 larger flat things, and 2 much smaller things. She would take out the NUC and plug it in (the flaw in this idea is the thing needs to be plugged in at the wall), then put the monitor on the stand, then put the mouse and keyboard on the desk and she's ready to go. I presume she would have a friend or helper that could make such a setup very quick given a little practice.

Overall though, this is the type of thing I'd be asking an expert about.

What screen?
What stand is on it?

You could unscrew the vesa mount and turn it 90 degrees.

If your stand is not vesa mount you could buy one

If your screen does not support vesa mounts you would have to make some sort of supporting system
