There’s a chance that your issue lies somewhere outside of sleep if you’re getting 7.5-8 hours and waking still feeling tired. Diet, exercise, psychological and emotional health will all play a big role in your energy levels and quality of sleep. Depression, in particular, can be exceptionally taxing on energy levels. Take some time to examine those areas of your life and adjust as necessary.

Onto more sleep-specific stuff:

I’m a big fan of the motto “what gets measured gets managed.” I use the Withings Aura[1] Alarm/Sensor to measure my sleep, which does a phenomenal job tracking when I’m in bed, but not actually sleeping, and what stages of sleep I’m in.

I'm also a huge fan of Doc Parsley's Sleep Remedy[2]. Fantastic for balancing out hormone levels that influence sleep. If you want to learn more about the man himself, he's got a TED talk[3] and has been on lots of podcasts[4, 5], etc. Pretty badass dude. Navy SEAL and MD.

Avoid screens within a couple hours of bed. Avoid them like the plague. In the event that they are unavoidable, leverage something like flux/redshift[6, 7] (computer), Twilight[8] (Android), Night Shift[9] (iOS). I'm a fan of using the Drift TV Box[10] on my television as well. (Great TV and self-constraint related hack: have your TV run through a light timer[11] and automatically turn off a couple hours before bed).

Get plenty of exercise, but not too close to bed.

Meditation and other mindful practices really help with my sleep. If you’re not comfortable with meditation, I enjoy Headspace[12] for guided practice.

Best of luck, friend. Feel free to holler with any questions.

You could use this one as long as your slow cooker is not drawing more power than the timer can handle.

They have been around forever. Well, not the digital ones. And, I really wouldn't call them smart. The smart ones are wifi enabled so you can turn them on/off while away from the house and what not.

A digital one.

A Mechanicall one.

Many slow cooking recipes have two options of how you can cook the recipe: a longer cooking time on low heat, or a shorter cooking time on high heat. From what I've seen, it's often something like 3-5 hours on high or 8 hours on low.

You can still use the slow cooker function if you're gone along period of time using one of those programmable timer. There exist analog ones or digital ones.

I've only ever used the analog ones and they were fine. Basically, if you've never seen one of these before, you plug in whatever electronic device you want into it, and you program the timer to shut off electricity to the device at a certain time. This is basically the same sort of thing people use to make their TVs or lights turn on at certain times of day as a sort of burglar deterrent when they're away on vacation. I used one of these timers to to turn on the lights in the morning half an hour before I woke up - like a super cheap, DIY gradual wake-up sun lamp.

Anyway, the way you can use this with your Aroma cooker is: if you leave at 9am for 8 hours, and you only want your Aroma cooker to cook for 3 hours, you plus the Aroma cooker into that timer, let it start cooking on high, set the timer to turn off at 12. It'll then only cook for 3 hours.

On certain devices like lamps, TVs, and simple coffee machines, you may also be able to use the timer to get the device to turn on at a specified time. I'm not sure what your Aroma cooker is like - if it's something where you can flip a switch even when the device is unplugged to have it start slow cooking, where it's just waiting for a power source in order to start cooking, then you can use the timer to program it to start cooking after a certain time past, say, 9am in our example. That way, you wont have to worry about the food getting too cold for recipes that have a shorter cooking time. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask for clarification.

Yeah. I don't think it's called a light timer though. Something like this.

You could use something like this:
outlet with timer

Maybe one of these could help so it isn't charging all day/night. Have it turn off for a few hours and charge for a few so the battery isn't fully charged nor fully drained, like have it on 4 hour intervals or something. Not sure if that would do anything but that is technically what they recommend.

I don't like the analog timers because they make clicky noises. I've also been through A LOT of various timers on Amazon because I own 2 auto cat feeders along with my multitude of reptile lights. I will break down my experience for you:

Enover TS18 Digital Timer -- I needed this for my triple-prong power strip and it worked for a couple months but then started turning the "random" feature on by itself and wouldn't turn off in the evening. Junked.

Westek TE08WHB Timer Strip -- I really like this one and I still use it for a couple of my cages. I like that 4 are timed and 4 are always on. NOTE though that when the power goes out this does NOT keep the time and will reset, which is very annoying.

WenTop Digital Timer -- I used this one for my single cat feeder for awhile, but it eventually stopped working for some reason. I never figured out why but it stopped turning anything on. Junked.

Century Digital Timer -- I bought a second feeder and needed a timer that had 2 outlets. This one has worked well so far, but you may just need a single outlet.

Woods 50006WD Analog Timer -- I still use these when my digital timers break lol. Honestly, they're really reliable, they just make that clicky sound that drives me nuts. But it's a great deal if you're just looking for something that works with no frills.

Nearpow Digital Timer -- My most recent purchase. I've only been using it for a few weeks but has been working fine. It has a bunch of settings, I have no idea what all of them do, I just need it to turn the lights off and on lol.
