It's almost inevitable when you enjoy a character you acquire some of his traits. And why not? He's cool. And for the most part, what you'll acquire is good. So to answer your question, yes, to one degree or another I've used Bond books (and movies) as self-help.
Here's something to add to your Bond arsenal: James Bond's Salad Dressing
