This is a great first attempt. Here are some suggestions:

  • Tin the copper foil around the edge before you put the frame on, the piece will look more coherent.

  • Your soldering needs a lot of work. Your's and everyone else's :) this book helped me immeasurably with my soldering technique.

  • I can't tell if you've patina-ed the piece. If you have, try washing it in Palmolive first, the amonia helps the patina take to the solder.

  • be sure to wash, dry, and polish your piece when you're done. It's definitely more work but he extra shine will really make the piece pop. Plus, if you leave flux on the glass it will eventually etch the glass.
