First: Dryer Sheets aren't even good for clothing! Anything with fabric softener just coats your clothing with a "soft", scented slime, similar to harsh surfactants, it's a "feel good while actually ruining your world" kind of thing.

& on that note... using cheap shampoos (like baby wash) as brush cleaner.

Cinema Secrets has hands down the best brush cleaner you could ever use, Jojoba Oil is perfect for cleaning off highly pigmented/waterproof anything (ladies that use Dip Brow), and even using my shave soap from the Strop Shoppe (~20/cake-I use it on my Beauty Blender and its way bigger than the Solid cake) is way better! All these alternatives actually save money in the end because you won't need to replace brushes and they all last a good while.

Edit: An alternative to fabric softener dryer sheets are reusable ones found here. I know some ladies like to use them to take away static cling from their hair... for the love of beauty, stop using fabric softener on anything!
