Ah-ha! I think I can answer this one!
Recently, an art book was released with a bunch of behind-the-scenes artwork, including several sketches of prototype characters that never made it into the show. One of theses pictures included a character named Concrete. Tumblr, being tumblr, latched on to the "can't read" part of the description and labeled the character as an offensive stereotype.
The original artist posted a formal apology, followed by an apology from Rebecca Sugar, the creator of the show.
It ships to Brazil actually but it coasts 100 reais ;-;
The Art book might be the best thing to get her if she doesn't have it already
Sort of like an expanded and more dense (and slightly less kiddie) follow-up to Guide to the Crystal Gems.
Mildly related: have any of you taken a look at the pages up for preview on the Art & Origins book? I can already tell there's gonna be BTS information no one has heard outside of the crew for the show.
...What I think the title was trying to say is that this is from the Steven Universe art book.
We're not really sure. This drawing is from the Art & Origins book, which is actually on sale right now. But it's just early concept art so it may look different if we ever see the full Cluster in the show. The arm we saw in "Reunited" definitely looks different.
It's this book, an official CN production coming out on the 11th. One of the things it contains is concept art from early in the show's production, which is probably what these pages are. The concept art of the Cluster's form which was posted here a few days ago is also from this book.
After looking into it some more and talking to customer support, I've found that if read from the Kindle app on my phone (Android) it looks perfect and awesome. The difference between them is exactly the difference between the "Kindle Book" and "Print Book" Look Inside previews from Amazon's store page for the book. Print Book (aka potato) quality is what I'm getting on the PC.
I got the support to file a ticket with the technical team. It may do some good, it may not. In the meantime I'm gonna try to get the AZW file from my phone and see if that looks better from my computer. It seems like they sent you an entirely different file depending on what you're using the Kindle app from.
Edit: the support said Android Kindle uses AZW files too but I don't see them. So I said fuck it, got a refund and I'll have my hardcover book on Thursday.
P.S. Google Play books has an ebook that's slightly better but it still ain't good enough, and you can't even zoom.
Here's one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Steven-Universe-Origins-Chris-McDonnell/dp/1419724436/ref=zg_bs_466576_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=E417J0HQ906JDYGMHHWV
I checked again, turns out it's on amazon.com, not UK, but I preordered it successfully there. Here's the link. If it becomes weird and redirects or something, just click on the link of this post, and then click on the book.
Just curious, is this the right thing? And is there a different place I could get it that would be cheaper?
Someone said it was included in this book.
Looks like an art book's coming out too.
