I love your ingenuity and please dont think of this as me knocking you down, but this has already been done and then some. This is Tap Dat Ash, a silicone ashtray with a big rubber nub in the middle to hit your glass on and not damage it, plus 4 holes (2 14mm & 2 18mm) along with 4 slits along the side.
