Yep, just like the first picture! Like you I find scissors really unwieldy, but the Germanikure nippers are incredibly precise and sharp.
These are the ones I specifically mean. They're expensive, but they are amazing. I mostly bought them just for the leather cover so they could live in my purse without me stabbing myself, but I was so surprised and impressed with the quality of the tool itself.
I've had several pairs of nippers over the years, and these Germanikure ones blow them all out of the water. I had no idea how dull my drugstore nippers were before using these! And sharp is a very good thing. Sharp means you won't have to pull or tug or cut twice.
Don't cut your cuticles! They need to be moisturized and massaged to become softer over time, but you can remove all hangnails with ease with some nippers.
