we switch books each year... (BoM, PoGP, D&C, NT) we skip the OT cause last time we tried (when i was still TBM) I told my wife that most of the stuff we were reading was disturbing, so we crossed off that book of madness. And frankly after reading

I really don't want anything to do with the Bible either.

My new bible is this, I have it on my nightstand and read it daily and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone still looking for daily insight to living a good life.

I love all kinds of house music but the tracks Im working on more melodic/atmospheric (ala Anjunadeep label).

I've been into philosphy and self-help or books that challenge our perceptions lately. Right now I'm reading Stumbling on Happiness which really defines our ideas of happiness. Also reading Meditaitons by Marcus Aurelius and I read the daily passage in The Daily Stoic

I would personally start with the William Irvine book:

A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy https://www.amazon.com/dp/0195374614/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YduuDbEW3T11Z

I don’t necessarily agree with him on everything in the book, but it gives a good view of stoicism. It’s easier to read since its in modern English.

I would also recommend “The Daily Stoic.”

It is a good book that you can get into if you only have brief periods of time to read. Ryan Holiday books are all pretty good. He mostly uses stoicism in his books, but also a little from other philosophies.

The reason I would start with these books is because the language is a little easier to understand, unless you are used to reading older English. Though “Meditations” does have pretty good translations.
