Before washing, I would wet a cotton swab, and rub it on any print or colors on your dress. If it runs, might not be a good idea to wash? But if not, hand washing seems like a really safe option.
I hear that steaming clothes would work too? Not too sure about that though, but I often hear it's good for this kinda clothing.
