Introduction to Comics
How to Get Into Comic Books (13:40) | Patrick Willems
Consider your intent/commitment. Think about your favorite shows, movies, books, etc. Do you seek quality storytelling or encyclopedic superhero knowledge? Plan to collect? Do you have the time/money to read 50 or 500 comics per character?
Don’t try to read everything at once. There’s too much. Forget about catching up, continuity, universes, etc. for now. Think of it like solving a jigsaw puzzle one small piece at a time until you finally start to see the big picture. Older comics can be an acquired taste for modern audiences, so they aren’t always ideal starting points. Creative teams change often, characters get re-worked, and origins are re-told.
Pick an interesting character/team and seek their most popular/acclaimed stories. Focus on self-contained/complete stories. You will encounter unexplained references/characters/events—just keep reading or Wiki. Don’t let the tangled interconnectedness of shared-universe comics overwhelm you.
Discover your preferences and let them guide you. Avoid over-analyzing—just start reading. Do you prefer old/new comics? Specific writers/genres? Cartoony/realistic art? Character/plot -driven story? Explicit content? Follow these instincts. Didn’t get a reference? Make that your next read.

You can skip to the 2016 Rebirth re-launch with the DC Universe: Rebirth event and then any Rebirth series #1.
Chuck Dixon's run on Nightwing is considered the definitive run on the character. It's actually being reprinted, and Nightwing, Vol. 1: Bludhaven was just recently released. There were a few mini-series (like Devin Grayson's Nightwing/Huntress) and a few one-shots from that era that might be worth reading as well (don't know if they'll be included in the future reprints). Oh, and the single issue Birds of Prey #8 by Dixon is a very well-loved story. Peter Tomasi had a good run on the character as well.
For Dick as a Teen Titan, you have the oh-so-80s Marv Wolfman run of The New Teen Titans, which is also being reprinted, starting with The New Teen Titans, Vol. 1.
For Dick as Robin, there's Batman: Dark Victory which is a Batman story that includes his origin. There's also Batgirl/Robin Year One, which covers his early years.
For the New 52, Kyle Higgins' run is generally pretty good, even though he had to work with a number of editorial restrictions. His run begins with Nightwing, Vol. 1: Traps and Trapezes.
And then there's the current Grayson, which I'm very tempted to say might be his best solo series that doesn't have him wearing bat ears. The first volume Grayson, Vol. 1: Agents of Spyral doesn't come out until July, however, but the single issues should be available.
I liked him in Wolfman/Perez/Tanghal "The New Teen Titans" series from the 80's. It's now been collected in several volumes with more being released regularly. Volume 1.
Flash by Mark Waid (upcoming) but I think it might be delayed
Flash by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar
Flash by Geoff Johns, Book 2, Book 3
As for team books, he shows up in New Teen Titans as Kid Flash and in JLA as Flash

Consider your intent/commitment. Think about your favorite shows, movies, books, etc. Reading primarily for enjoyment or encyclopedic knowledge? Collecting? Have the time/resources to read 50 or 500 comics per character?
Don’t try to read everything at once. There’s too much. Forget about catching up, continuity, universes, etc. for now. Older comics can be an acquired taste for modern audiences, so they aren’t necessarily ideal starting points. Writers change often, characters get re-worked, and origins are re-told. Remember, there are many great characters, creators, publishers, etc. to explore.
Pick an interesting character/team and seek their most popular/acclaimed stories. Focus on self-contained, complete stories in one corner of the universe. There will be unexplained references/characters, just persevere or Wiki. Don’t let the tangled web of shared-universe comics overwhelm you. Think of it like solving a jigsaw puzzle one small piece at a time until you finally see the big picture.
Discover your preferences and let them guide you. Don’t get stuck preparing/over-analyzing, just start reading. Do you like/dislike old/new comics? Specific writers/genres? Cartoony/realistic art? Familiar/weird concepts? References/self-contained? All-ages/mature content? Follow these instincts. Didn’t understand a reference? Maybe read that next.

Wolfman. Perez. There is no substitute.
Sorry to chime in 7 days late, but you've got it backwards: the Teen Titans Go comic is based on the cartoon show, not the other way around. The first issue was published in November of 2003, whereas the cartoon show first aired in July of 2003. The comics were a complement to the cartoon.
The comics that the show is based on are the 1980s Marv Wolfman/George Perez "New Teen Titans" comics, which are stylistically very different from the cartoon show (no anime influence, for instance). DC only recently began collecting these in trades: https://www.amazon.com/New-Teen-Titans-Vol/dp/1401251439/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487026613&sr=8-2&keywords=new+teen+titans

New Teen Titans series covers both of their original appearances and origins.

The New Teen Titans Archives only collect up to issue 27. The final Archive book was released in 2008, and the Archives/Chronicles department of DC seems to have shut down years ago, so it's highly, highly unlikely they'll continue the series in that format.
However, they are releasing the series in trade paperback right now. There are currently four volumes:
DC has said that they plan on collecting the entire Wolfman/Perez Titans run in trades this way.
They will be re-releasing the first trade in a fortnight here. They have also done some Omnibuses (Omnibi?) for the run, but unfortunately the first volume is OOP and goes for insane amounts of cash.
Absolutely start with Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s New Teen Titans. It’s where most of the Titans were first introduced and is most Titans fans’ (including myself) favorite run. It also includes the biggest story arcs in Titans history. They are currently recollecting this series so you can find volume 1 here
