This book is pretty neat, I saw it one day when walking through chapters and the second half of the book is all futurama.

IIRC most writers have phd's in math.

If you're interested in more hidden mathematics in Futurama and The Simpsons, I would high recommend Simon Singh's book: The Simpsons and their Mathematical Secrets. It's very good, funny, and explains the topics in an easily understood way.

You should check out this book if you're remotely interested in math/numbers. It's definitely got some Futurama stuff in it as well.
