It is fascinating how much FUD there is out there about babies on bikes! I even read one article that insisted that the vibrations from a bike would lead to baby brain damage!

Anyway ... based on my own googling, it seems like regardless of age or weight, as soon as your baby can hold their own head up, there a multiple options:

  • Baby in front or rear bike seat (The Wirecutter just did some reviews actually)
  • Baby in chariot trailer (possibly with added support like this)
  • Baby in a secure seat in a front cargo bike box (like this)

If you're just looking for a bit of a pep talk, I think there's some nice advice at the end of this Wirecutter article and also some good Nordic straight talk in this Copenhagenize post.

If you're looking for a vote of confidence, you have mine. My family lives downtown and doesn't own a car and I have no intention of being housebound if we become parents.
