How do you know that? I don't see any reviews for the ECO3

Edit: I think I gotta disagree with you just based on the customer reviews. I did an aggregate score for all the OCZ Trion 150 Drives (120GB, 240GB, etc.). It scored a 2.78. Granted it's only based on 9 reviews but still, pretty shitty reliability.

The Mushkin has 10 reviews and 5/5 eggs for reviews.

Edit 2: the OCZ does seem to have much better reviews on Amazon. I believe the Mushkin a Newegg exclusive unfortunately

This sub LOVES Samsung, and I don't disagree. They sell good products.

I've got an AMD branded 480gb ssd that was manufactured by OCZ, and I've been really happy with it. Looking on Amazon today, I found this which seems like a killer deal. If money is a factor for you, you may want to check that out, since the price is significantly discounted.

I believe the Trion 150 Series is very positively reviewed.

I'd get this OCZ Trion instead at that price point. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B4NUKME/ref=pd_aw_sim_147_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GGAZJ8VF65311E7SJAQ6

Laptop/desktop doesn't matter for SSDs (all SSDs are the same physical size and fit in laptops, but also fit in desktops).

Edit: Nevermind, I assume you were talking about the $87 sale price, which is a great deal, so the OCZ price is less great.

Ah. Fair enough. What does a SSD cost where you're located? If Amazon.com is an option keep an eye out. I think I payed about USD$160 for my OCZ 480GB SSD which at that time was the cheapest drive that size. Though after a brief look everything is quite a bit cheaper now.

If money is that big of a pinch, the 240GB drives will still hold your OS and a handful of large games. You just have to be more conservative with not filling it up with games you aren't currently playing. I started out with a 240GB SanDisk SSD and it was some of the best money I've ever spent.

This is the OCZ:

You could probably use more RAM anyway, but if you have to choose between an SSD or more RAM, you'll see a much bigger performance improvement with the SSD. But remember that the performance improvement is in boot times and load times, you wont see an FPS bump because you upgraded to an SSD.

The 850 Evo is about the best out there right now, but the differences to its big label competitors isn't that big, and you could probably save a few bucks by switching to a different brand (or for a little more get 2x the storage space.). Any SSD switch will give you a noticeably faster system.

Hows the Toshiba OCZ Trion 150 480GB for reliability and all that?

Looking for a ~500gb SSD doesn't need to be the fastest I care more about longevity than speed since I'll probably run 4-6TB through it per year.

Made a price/capacity spread sheet for the Amazon SSDs

Sorta need to order through amazon so I'll miss out on the Jet/Newegg deals.

Working on expanding the spread sheet to include write speeds, 4k write speeds, IOPS, MTTF, and TBW.

you can get a 480gb ssd for the same price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4NUKME

Looks pretty good
If you want a larger SSD for a bit more I'd recommend this

Yeah you can get 240-256GB SSD's for $70-100 (just checked from Amazon), IMO that's not bad anymore. Of course it's still a bit expensive if compared to the size of mechanical HDD's but the speed improvement is really worth the money.

I'll never use a mechanical as an OS drive again. I have a 256GB SSD for Windows and some programs, then 500GB mechanical for rest of the programs and games and 3TB mechanical for other data.

EDIT: Here is a 240GB one for $59.99 and here is a 480 GB one for $107.50, they have read/write speeds of 550/520.

It would be great to have SSD's with those prices here in Finland too. The cheapest 480GB costs 129 euros which is 144.93 in USD. $107.50 is only 95,68 euros.

Dunno your budget but if you're looking for a bang for your buck, check this out! 480GB for $90.

480gb SSDs are down to $100 these days, check out OCZ 150 series, they're pretty sweet. I have an Arc 100 and a Trion 100, some of my favorite toys. The 150s are even better. I know it doesn't solve the immediate issue of the missing files, but this is a longer term solution you could consider.

u/KooDaChon · -4 pointsr/buildapcsales

wouldn't consider this much of a deal since you can find it around this price normally on Amazon =/

Also considering the mx 750gb for $100...

edit: link for SSD on Amazon
