  1. It's okay to occasionally slip up with regards to byproducts in things you didn't know about - animal derived D3 in cereals or non vegan wine/beer (barnivore is a great resource for checking, if you're a drinker). Don't beat yourself up for not knowing ahead of time, take a mental note, and remember for the future. It's about intention, not perfection. If everyone were pure vegan they wouldn't use roadways or tires with animal byproducts etc. Do the best you can.

  2. You do need B12. The fun thing about B12 is that meat eaters are often deficient in this crucial vitamin, IIRC 40% of the U.S. population is deficient and since vegans are only 2%, obviously nobody's eating enough. Here's a great video on why to supplement B12. I personally take this supplement as it's a very absorbable form of B12 (methylcobalamin), and I'm a big baby who hates pills and needles. Injections are surefire if you're paranoid about deficiency.

Congrats on the start of your vegan journey - I'm always down to chat about vegan stuff if you want to message anyone with questions, this sub and other good vegan groups on facebook are also awesome resources/places to vent/ask questions!
