Although I used to have a security system, we took it out. Here's what I suggest:
Cox homelife is not so much a security firm as it is providing interconnected devices then attaching an alert to them. You could easily build your own security system and set it up to alert you when it's triggered. I would go with SEi, ADT, etc if you want a full blown system.
Personally, I would just set up some [IP Cameras] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K9632H8/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687462&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B007RFFTUW&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0PW956PP2DDH446ZCSYB) and slap a fake security sticker on the Windows.
Edit: See [here] (https://www.ubnt.com/mfi/mport/) for some more secuity products. Personally, I like Ubiquiti because they are reputable and most of their equipment is set up via PoE. Easy to install and easy to use. If I had the $ I would totally install a system myself and have it alert me of an intrusion. I'm more concerned on having footage of what the perp took, and what he looked like as well as seeing how he got around (plate #) instead of having the police called and show up after the perp is gone.
