I've been researching tablets for a few months now. My old gal finally died! What is your price range? Cost is going to dictate what tablet brands and sizes you can get. I was able to visit some friends who have several different tablets including some higher end ones.

Here are my top two picked for under $600.

Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Large Tablet
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EN27SMY/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_g72tyb7SMD14K

Most Wacom users love their tablets. Intuos tend to be solid builds that are geared towards artists who need a smooth flow. There is going to be a learning curve no matter what but the design of this tablet is easy to navigate. The Wacom brand also comes with the upside of technical support and easy to operate/install drivers. Keep in mind that some tablets have foriegn drivers and can be complete disasters to install.

Here's the downside of Wacom...
Wacom is larger company so they can charge a higher end costs for their tablets. This included any replacement parts or accessories such as scratch protectors and spare nibs. Trust me when I say, you will need that damned scratch protector. Stick with the Intuos Pro and do not go to a lower Intuos model. Prior models had issues with the ports breaking off the boards. Once they break it's game over. Wacom has resolved this issue with their Pro model though. Over all, it's a solid purchase.

Wacom is releasing an even higher end model sometime in 2017. Keep your eye peeled on the website for more deets on that one. Cost is going to be above $600 though.

My other personal pick is the Ugee HK1560 15.6 Inches IPS Screen HD Resolution Graphics Monitor Drawing Display

Lower cost plus decent resolution makes this tool shine out from some of the rest. Downside is that is required 3 different wires to operate and it completely express keys. Once you start jamming out with digital, you'll find that express keys are extremely convenient.

It's a coin toss between the two for me. I love the idea of drawing directly onto my screen but having to wired in and without express keys is a nuisance.

Late as hell but you should consider this cheaper but still very decent drawing tablet.

Ugee HK1560 is on sale for $400 on Amazon. Some reviewers report pen calibration issues.

I bought an Ugee tablet about a week ago and I absolutely love it. I was worried that the quality wouldn't be as good but I actually find it much nicer than my old Wacom.

Honestly, I've done a lot of research and I firmly believe that the competition isn't "cheap", Wacom just overcharges. Those digitizers are only about $100 and monitors cost about $150... there is no reason a cintiq should cost $800.

Ugee HK1560, it's worked perfect so far! Though I was so used to drawing on paper that it took a while to adjust to digital.
