You mean if you limit yourself to big known brand names? You can get a 40 inch for under $400 if you get a korean or other south asia panel and the quality in most cases is nearly as good as anything else due to it being the same core panels/glass that the big boys use, just less bells and whistles

That site is awesome! Holy cow. Here's their equally-great video review of the TV.

I'm pretty much sold. Two questions:

  1. While the reviews say it's great for gaming, it seems to have some issues with motion. Should that concern me?
  2. This unit seems to be fairly comparable, but it's $100 less. They say it's bad for HDR gaming, but other than that it seems to do as well. Is this worth considering, given the price difference?

Thank you for the excellent suggestion, and for sharing that amazing site!

It's the D40u-D1.

I ended up buying at at target several months ago when they had a tv sale. Got a great price on it.

Not in Canada, at least not something with a brand. Another option I am considering is the Vzio D40U-D1 but that's $550, and if black friday is anything to go by it will only be $50 cheaper. Our options are very limited here in Canada. My main interest is the better panel.

Oh! If you're just playing music via the app, then I think any USB will do, as long as it's formatted as NTFS or FAT32. I thought we were talking about games.

With your TV budget, this would be your best bet. 40 inch for under $400

It is 4K which is nice, but it does not support HDR, which will be a nice feature going forward with the Xbox One S. You could always upgrade down the road.

Didn't want to make a new topic for this question, but this is my tv. I don't see it saying anything about HDR anywhere. Anyone know if it's an HDR tv?
