$100 isn't going to get you very far. You're best bet is to get a cheap soundbar and run with it. I know this is going to be hated on but honestly he doesn't care about audio and has a budget of $100.
VIZIO SB3820-C6 38-Inch 2.0 Channel Sound Bar (2015 Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SMBG8NC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_EoTExbX006QF2
Really recommend Vizio soundbars. Great sound for a great price. Also comes in 5.1 version with rear speakers and a subwoofer. The 2.0 version is great for apartment living though.
Thanks for this tip. Somebody else mentioned this and it totally flew over my head. I didn't realize that bluetooth could keep a pairing with multiple devices before.
Right now I'm checking this out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SMBG8NC?colid=132CFUXYODUHV&coliid=I15GD9C76JFVVM&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl
My Vizio Soundbar sucked... How much of an improvement will this Samsung home theater system be? Is it any good?

I'm getting a pre-owned Samsung HT-D5300 Series from craigslist...

Is this any good? My budget is only $200 which is why I'm looking at used stuff... There isn't much locally, but I can get that Samsung system for $160. Is that a good deal? Will it be a dramatic improvement over my Vizio soundbar?

Anything worth noting about the Samsung one?
Thanks
I was looking at cheap soundbars a while ago, I found a decent one based on price and reviews. Mind you, I don't actually own it due to not having much money to spend, but, if I had money to buy one it would be this one.
