A couple of things some people might be interested in knowing:

  • Looks like this is the older/previous version. The latest one is this. Not sure about the difference in performance; probably negligible if there's one.
  • Don't forget to activate the 1% rebate from Rakuten. :)

The 3400G has no point in favour(except the useless in that case integrated gpu)compared to the old 2600/2600X and costs very little less.

https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_5_3400g_review,1.html

Get a windows 10 pro OEM key and use the money saved to get a better hardware.

https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-windows-10-professional-cd-key-compare-prices/

Ryzen 2600X, always faster than the 3400G and with 6C/12T instead 4C/8T, same price.

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Wraith-Cooler/dp/B07B428V2L/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=2600x&qid=1566549660&s=gateway&sr=8-1

For the motherboard go with the AORUS B450M, still micro-atx but with better vrm section and 4 dimm slot.

https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450-AORUS-Thermal-Motherboard/dp/B07FWY246F/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=GIGABYTE+B450+AORUS+M&qid=1566548666&s=electronics&sr=1-3

For the ram go with the 3200Mhz, the price is not so different from the 3000mhz and in the ryzen 2xxx the frequency of the ram is never enough. This one go without any problem at 3200mhz in all the 4 dimm slot(in many MB it slow down when you use all of them).

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-HX432C16PB3K2-16/dp/B01GCWQ8VO/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=HX432C16PB3K2%2F16&qid=1566548905&s=gateway&sr=8-2

For the ssd go with a NVME one, not a simple and slower sata-on-m2 like the one you linked, this is good and immensely faster than a m2-sata one.

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-SN500-500GB-NVMe-Internal/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=pd_cp_147_3?pd_rd_w=4Enu4&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=X7MNXV3BTN7KTDVWETV3&pd_rd_r=65132661-a55d-48a9-b339-2de3f59635c6&pd_rd_wg=wdzbp&pd_rd_i=B07P7TFKRH&psc=1&refRID=X7MNXV3BTN7KTDVWETV3

The rest is ok.

Overwatch... yeah decent enough I suppose based on some youtube videos. Fornite? Barely... the graphics requirements are a bit too high for the Intel UHD 620 even at 720p resolution.

I recommend you buy a laptop with a Ryzen 5 3500u APU instead. It probably has about 10% to 15% less processing performance than the i5-8250u. However, the Radeon RX Vega 8 graphics core is similar to a nVidia 940m while the Intel HD 620 is a bit less powerful than a nVidia 920m. The Vega8 can't compete against a modern dedicated GPU, but a integrated graphics core that is equal to a nVidia 940m is pretty impressive.

The following Lenovo IdeaPad S340 with the Ryzen 5 3500u is currently on sale for $380. It only has a 128GB PCIe NVMe SSD, but that can be replaced relatively inexpensively with 500GB PCIe NVMe SSD for $65.

You can watch the following video which compares the older Ryzen 5 2500u (Vega 8) vs the i5-8250u (UHD 620) in Fortnite. Be aware that frame rate drops during combat compared to just running around. The newer Ryzen 5 3500u performs roughly 7% to 10% better in games compared to the older Ryzen 5 2500u based on reviews that I have read.

If you have amazon prime, then this can be a good deal:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07P7TFKRH/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Open box 20% off. After tax it would be $50 for 500Gb SSD nvme.

u/tl27Rex · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Moving to this motherboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XHH4YG4/ref=twister_B07ZHYFGS2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (ryzen 3rd gen ready) will enable to you to get a 500 GB ssd. Enough to house windows and a decent amount of your favorite games. (this is the ssd, https://www.amazon.com/Blue-SN500-500GB-NVMe-Internal/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=500gb+nvme+ssd&qid=1572133927&sr=8-3 ) For less money

u/MisterMeowgi_ · 2 pointsr/buildapc

That power supply is a little overkill for that system. A 500w psu from a good brand is plenty, and you still have plenty of headroom for overclocking. Especially for that card. It's a very power efficient gpu. The other thing I would change is the SSD. This SSD is only a few dollars more and is much faster. Plus it's a lot easier to install and looks cleaner.

u/EagleEffects · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I would swap that ssd for an M.2 like this one:
WD Blue SN500 500GB NVMe Internal... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7TFKRH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
cheaper and would run faster.

i would look into building an AMD Ryzen machine. with release of gen 3 those prices are bound to have dropped on older models but i could be wrong. Good luck!

u/zheke91 · 1 pointr/MSI_Gaming

It has the same speed, 560Mb/s which I think is the limit of SATAIII, as for your question stills the same, you wont see any notable difference while gaming, If you are focus on only gaming I recommend you to find a good brand with a high read/write cycle, I don't see any point going for a faster and expressive SSD unless money is not a problem for you.

Edit: I found this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=psdc_1292116011_t1_B073SBX6TY it is a M.2 NVMe which is 1700 Mb/s more than 3 times faster than the SATAIII

u/Just-James371 · 1 pointr/buildapc

The motherboard is just in case I want to upgrade the cpu in the future.

Is this the same ssd you were talking about? SSD

I can’t find the 1660 super for much more than $10 cheaper.

u/t34p075 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Here’s the first one:
WD Blue SN500 500GB NVMe Internal... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7TFKRH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And the second:
WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal PC... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SB2MXT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Looks like the tb one is sata. What does that mean? Do I need to return it?

Thanks for the help.

u/isryjose · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I ended up buying this https://www.amazon.com/Blue-SN500-500GB-NVMe-Internal/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=western+digital+nvme+ssd&qid=1557401350&s=gateway&sr=8-4 for 65$ I think it's a great deal. I just care about the product not breaking the first year but WD it's known to be reliable and yeah I basically chose NVMe for better cable management of my ITX build.

u/Zonned87 · 1 pointr/buildapc

The 9400F is a bad decision without extra threads it will be obsolete for gaming in a few years. Get a Ryzen 3600 as it has 12 threads. This CPU will be safe for many years to come. Add a MSI B450 MORTAR. Replace that 1TB HDD with a 500gb NVMe its literally 20x faster and will only cost you a little more. These build changes will literally make the machine last twice as long and safe for next generation games and easy future upgradeability.

You could take that $50 and spend on a decent M.2 SSD. This one isn’t the best on the market but it’s on par with the Samsung EVO.

Nothing, make sure you're using an m.2 pcie ssd, something like this. Fast single core performance, and make sure the motherboard supports fast ram and enable XMP profiles after installing.

u/Gilk58 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Seems pretty good to me. If you can, you should add an HDD to store your games/stuff and keep the SSD only for the OS and drivers. This is to extend the life of the SSD as much as possible as it can only perform writes a certain amount of time. Also, maybe switching that SATA SSD for an M.2 WD Blue 500GB, which gives you higher Read and Write speeds (basically, your PC will boot and run faster).

u/sh1tpost1nsh1t · 1 pointr/buildapc

If you have a microcenter nearby you can get the exact same cpu and motherboard for about $30 less, without having to worry about rebates. Sales tax might wipe out the difference, though, depending where you live.

You might also be able to do better on the storage

Hello im very knowledgable on laptops and this topic haha

if you purchase an m.2 ssd whichever one you want lol

and you will need to take apart the laptop to get to it

unplug the battery

put the ssd in

put the battery in

now

you need to make a bootable windows 10 drive a usb or hard drive will do above 16GB

follow this guide

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-windows-10-usb-bootable-media-uefi-support

after this go through the process of selecting the ssd drive to install windows onto

and then reinstall all the programmes you want to be fast and delete them off the HDD so google chrome

you will need to delete this off the HDD and reinstall it will auto go to the ssd as the OS is running of of it now

and same for anything else

hope this helps if you want any reccomendations for an SSD i can link a few below of different prices

sorry to bother you, is this OK as a secondary driver music, games, storage? also I usually download movies, tvshows, games using Torrent wouldn't torrent stuff decrease the life of the NVME?

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-SN500-500GB-NVMe-Internal/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=nvme&qid=1565021378&s=electronics&sr=1-11

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is there anything wrong with using an M.2 NVME or an M.2 SATA drive as my ONLY storage on a PC? For example just this?

I've never come across a build that did this and I can't find an answer.
