It allows you to see price changes over some time (up to 3 years in some cases) and consider if it is likely that a product will be discounted again later in the year - or if the discount is genuine.

$149.99 USD would have been a better price point. Dropping the price by only fifty bucks for a disc-less console that can't play any physical games is retarded, especially when what Microsoft should be doing is offering an entry level system to effectively undercut Sony. I could buy a brand new Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive on Amazon.co.uk today for roughly the same price as Microsoft are retailing the disc-less edition. Yes, that doesn't include Minecraft, Sea of Thieves or Forza Horizon 3 but Minecraft is rather cheap, Sea of Thieves is rather shit and FH3 isn't even the latest game in the Forza Horizon series.
And you can get a standard 1TB Xbox One S with Forza Horizon 4 (the latest game, not the predecessor) for around $25 more.
