Mary Boyce's book, Zoroastrians: Their Religious Beliefs and Practices is the best Western book I am aware of. She spent time in the Yazd area about 10 years before I got there, and I was often asked if I knew her when I lived there.

Unfortunately, we never met, but I knew many of the Zoroastrians she interviewed.
