I have been having a lot of anxiety lately, because:

  • My mom is having mental health issues and is in hardcore denial about it (and is trying to deflect/say the problem is actually my poor dad). Stuff like extreme paranoia and delusions. It's really hurting my immediate family because she can be very combative, but my extended family and friends have been amazing and supportive. I suspect she may have Parkinson's, as she has many of the non-motor symptoms, but idk for sure. I got her to agree to meet with a neurologist to see about this, which was huge.

  • I found my dream job (and could have had an interview) but it would have ultimately been a pay cut plus no insurance and no vacation time, so I had to decline. I wish I could afford to take a pay cut. :( Also the recruiter was kind of guilt-tripping me into taking it, imo...he kept saying things like, "if you love this field, it's worth it to take the leap of faith." I DO love the field (journalism--editing in particular), but I'm already paycheck to paycheck and simply can't afford to take the cut. It's not a matter of wanting the job badly enough; it's a matter of having to make decisions that work for my reality. Being able to take a pay cut is a luxury for people with more financial security.

  • My current job at a law office is super stressful lately and I want out. Nobody explains anything, deadlines are a mystery, and one lawyer in particular struggles with the phrase "work smarter, not harder." Gonna keep job hunting. I'd love to be somewhere new by the summer, but by next year is the absolute deadline. It's gonna be hard, though...the job market is slim and highly competitive in my town right now.

    However, positives!

  • One of my best friends flew me out to spend the weekend with her in Oregon so I could escape the family issues for a couple of days. I am super tired from switching time zones twice in three days, but I had an amazing time and I am so grateful to her for treating me like she did. I love the PNW a whole lot, so I was excited to go back. Here are two waterfalls we hiked to: one and two.

  • My 2017 planner finally came in and I love it. Got this one. It has a vision board section in it and I made mine last night.

  • I have coffee and a muffin and I've gotten through enough work that one side of my desk has been unearthed. This has been my little rant-y break, so time to get back to it! I feel better, lol.

My friend recommended this planner last year https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYVUKFZ and I start using it at work and I absolutely love it. I needed something that centers me on a few big tasks that are important for me that today and this planner has the perfect layout for it.

I also struggled with maintaining a consistent journal/planner. My current go-to is this fantastic little bound Daily Reminder Diary from At-a-Glance!. What I like about it is how one page = one day giving me enough space to write and each page is helpfully marked with days lapsed and days remaining in the year (ex:263rd day - 102 days to follow) providing me a proper sense of progression. Another thing I like about it is it has this year and the next in mini calendar form giving me a good bird's eye view of the year.

I've stuck with it since the beginning of the year and I'd recommend you give it a try.

I like this one quite a lot, it's got a great weekly layout for my needs, and has a bunch of extra sheets in the back for any notes you may need. I'd say the paper is about as good, maybe a little better than your average leuchtturm stuff.

I need my favouritest planner ever on my office list because they just released the 2018 ones and I found out something SUPER exciting (that I'm not allowed to say yet 🎤) but it's for March and it's back in Ohio so it's special for me so I wanna put it in and decorate the page and I glam plan and this is the planner I've used for 5 years so all my stickers are sized for this planner and I love it!

I really like my bloom planner! It's super cute and functional, too, and if you check around you can find them a bit cheaper than they are on Amazon (they retail for about $18, so it isn't bank-breaking to buy there either).

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I miss my meds so hard! Especially at work - I'm an office manager for a small business and in many ways the ADD is a blessing because I have to wear a lot of hats there and I'm happiest when I'm jumping between tasks, but I also have to be organized. Fortunately I'm done working until I go back from maternity leave, but it was a struggle. You've got all the vibes coming from me!

Also, I'll share something that was a lifesaver for me - obviously take it or leave it because I know you weren't looking for advice here. I got a planner that had a big block for each day of the week, and it really helps me organize and complete tasks, and putting it all on paper seems to help a lot with that initial paralysis. I mostly use this at work but I've been thinking I need to get one for home too, or maybe just a whiteboard that I can tape off blocks for days on.

Planner

Look at the second from the last picture there to see what I mean. I've had a zillion planners over the years but this is the only style that's ever worked for me.

I actually get these every year just so I can take obsessive notes like this. Week on left page, blank page on right.

Anything great, I transfer to Keep.

It really helps me to be able to go back through time and see where my thought process is. Being able to look back has been extremely helpful at times.

I may be watching too much Gilmore Girls right now, but I think Lorelai would have been able to run the inn a little bit more efficient if she had a day planner. I'm not sure if your hotel does events or not.

The item I would love this

u/coffeehousebrat · 1 pointr/bujo

Love the look of this layout! I do the opposite and use these stamps and then add handwritten dates.

I'm a HUGE fan of stamps in my bujo!

It truly is hard to find a good planner for kids!!

u/Metatronix · 5 pointsr/occult

My most recent favorite contenders are the "paperblanks" brand of journals.

I want something classy looking, lots of pages, and will stand the test of time. (and incense, sweat, blood, and tears!)

I have also heard that just getting paper and using a binder is a better option... What do you think?

u/argtri · 2 pointsr/productivity

I found a cheap and easy analog solution for this purpose--an undated beauty salon appointment calendar.

u/avenueyou · 3 pointsr/Catholicism

I actually just purchased this from Amazon yesterday. I've always used planners, but have never come across a Catholic one. The Amazon reviews look great. Can't wait to receive it!

u/Akeleie · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Happy red velvet cake day!!!! I thought this planner was cute.

u/Whatsitsname33 · 3 pointsr/adhdwomen

The ones I've found to be the best that worked for me are ones that have sections for how my brain sorts tasks. I need something that will show me monthly what is coming up, and weekly to write down daily or more detailed tasks.

The one I used through nursing school was Live Whale Planner. it's 12 months and undated, so you can write the days/dates in yourself and you're not limited to when planners are released (like school year months or only January). The weekly section of this planner has time scheduled format, so that helped me plan when the task would get done and what classes or appointments I had scheduled and needed to work around.

I got some stick on tabs from amazon for the months and weekly sections so I could flip through more easily. I also added 2 additional ribbons to bookmark monthly, weekly sections.

leather calendar tabs

That’s a tough size. I’d go for the Midori Passport . There are several different leather colors. That is just the cover.

Each Midori can hold 2-4 inserts comfortably. If she wants Weekly, I’d go for the generic weekly insert .

You can add inserts with blank note paper, yearly calendars, whatever. Get on Etsy and look up “Midori Passport” stuff and you’ll find all kinds of covers and inserts that might be more creative or work better than the official stuff.
