Okay, step 1 - go to a used bookstore that carries out of date textbooks. Buy any textbook on geology - first year. Not one that says 'environmental geology' or 'palaeontology' just 'geology.'

Read it.

Then, if that's not enough (it probably won't be) pick up a copy of this book (or find one at a library):

http://www.amazon.ca/Global-Tectonics-Philip-Kearey/dp/1405107774

or this one:

http://www.amazon.ca/Plate-Tectonics-Continental-Mountain-Building/dp/3540765034/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1342833075&sr=1-1

and read. The second one is more pictorial but not as detailed.

If you get through that, you're doing damned well!

>even try to explore the counter arguments.

I do understand the counter arguments. They are bullshit. If you had even a introductory understanding of plate tectonics you would understand why, or at least understand why I think it is bullshit. Do some studying. You can not claim to think that the mainstream interpretation of plate tectonics is wrong, with out first understanding what that interpretation is.

>expect me to decide all of a sudden.

I was hoping you would take it on faith and the strength of the scientific establishment. If that is, for you, insufficient, you want to understand why they are correct, then you must start studying. Until then you can not claim them to be wrong. This might be a good start.
