How big is your screen wall and how far is your seating from the screen?

If you can bump your budget a bit, I would recommend the BenQ HT3550 over the UHD50. That way you don't have the deal with the light border from the older DLP chip, and the color performance is a bit better from the BenQ.

I would not recommend those types of ceiling mounts, they are an absolute pain to install and get set up. The only consumer-grade mount I recommend nowadays is the Peerless PRG-UNV. You can add an extension column to it as well if you need more flexibility with vertical shift.

35 feet is a little over the upper limit of what we would typically recommend to avoid HDMI signal issues with UHD content. Remember to heavily test your HDMI signal path before you permanently install anything.

Is there a specific reason you're going with that Pioneer AVR?

I linked everything I've used in a reply to your original comment! It required a mount adapter the back piece of the monitor that looks like a hook just slides right in.

Edit: in case the VESA description of the item threw you off (just noticed that), it just screws right onto most mount arms and you're good to go.

What Nebula projector do you have?

Depending on the one you have if it has a mounting 3mm screw then you can use any that allow like the one below. Just make sure it has a 3 mm Wrench on it.

You can take a look at this as an example but there are different ones

There wont be a lot of mounts like that because that is simply a wrong way to mount the projector. That way you lose a lot of IQ because unused pixels using keystone correction.

I dont know if you can mount on the ceiling or the wall, but you need something like this.

Then mount your projector UPSIDE DOWN, there are holes on the bottom of the projector to mount it. This will remove the need to tilt the projector like that, and also decrease the amount of keystone correction you are using, so its better IQ. There is option on the projector to correct the image upside down, if I recall correctly its MENU>Setup>Projection> select the front ceiling icon.

If you still need something similar, maybe something like this will work?

Maybe something like this?

Something like this would work.

Have you considered looking into something like this?

The closest I found was this on Amazon. Does anyone know a company that sells it cheaper? www.amazon.com/dp/B01B8HIEVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8H16BbQK769SY

Update: side-to-side adjustment isn’t a necessity anymore.

> I knew it had to be a university. It just looks like something they would spend too much money on.

Considering these motorized mounts can be purchased for under a couple hundred dollars, and these are common in office conference rooms as well, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here.

Are you saying universities are inherently spendthrift and wasteful, and thus should be expected to indulge in such heinously profligate purchases such as hiding a $4,000 projector up in the ceiling where it's much harder to steal?

u/caseyaustin84 · 2 pointsr/hometheater

I like this OmniMount. Is there a joist in the spot you wanted to mount it? If so, I'd just make sure 2 bolts go into the joist and use drywall anchors for the other two.

If there no joist there, lag bolt a piece of 1x6 between two joists and bolt the mount to that. You can paint the board to match the ceiling.

Chief makes universal projector mounts with a quick-release mechanism that doesn't need to be re-aimed every time you remove and replace it. They're not cheap. I have this one (sold as a ceiling mount, but I have it floor-mounted on a piece of pipe).

There's a VESA adapter for this series of monitors.

The BenQ universal mount would work if you got two.

I have a wall mount as well, but it's a bit more bare bones.

Very basic setup.
My curtains hide the wires from the rest of the room, and my windows are tinted so no one sees it from the outside.

Projector novice here. Just mounted the screen and am having trouble getting it fitting correctly. This has lens shift and keystone. Any tips or suggestions? I keep physically moving the projector back and forth and up and down and messing with keystone and lens shift and the 2 knobs and I just can't get it right.

The mount was a complete pain to use and put together. The can move if touched it's weird. I have the $20 ST mount that I got for free that maybe I could try.

Here is the mount I have: www.amazon.com/dp/B00067OR6K/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_70ZuxbFBDMTTJ

Roger that, I ordered the projector and ceiling mount, they added a refurb on Amazon for $499.99 (reg $699.99, list $799.99) so I had to act fast. Not sure what the "usually ships in 1-2 months" message is all about, lol. I also added the CV Center Speaker to my order. These CV bookshelf speakers are going on my wishlist, I think the two 12" subs in my Re-30s will be plenty of bass for now. I'm going to take my time on the receiver, I really want something that's going to shake my wife's dishes upstairs and I know from experience, these CVs can handle a ton. I'm looking for something with some serious power. I have a Kenwood KA-7010 Integrated Amp (100 watts per channel RMS) that was perfect but all of the right channels recently stopped working :(

I've seen things like L-brackets (like this) that bolt into the wall, but then the screen hangs on s-clips, which seems to be removable. Are these just unreliable/a bad option?
