Frosting - any white marks on models after post-curing are usually due to residual IPA or water left on the print. If you make sure they are completely dry before putting them under the UV lights you will get rid of most of this (I use an airbrush or compressed air can to help speed things along.

For fixing divots etc you can try to remove most supports before post curing as the resin will be softer and less likely to fracture (leading to divots). Otherwise you have to look to tips from plastic modellers and use putty and glue to fill and then sand. The tools you use are also important - proper modelling sprue cutters (side cutter and tweezer types) put less stresses on the resin and lead to cleaner cuts. Final clean up can be done carefully with a sharp new blade in an xacto knife (a magnifier of some sort helps). 99% of the time I remove supports after the IPA washes and before post-curing (use gloves!). Tamiya Sprue Cutter & Sprue tweezers

The shininess when you do not wash in IPA is the extra resin on the model hardening to a smooth finish. When you wash it off the layers and 'pixels' in the model are more apparent and your get the matt finish. I have not experimented much with this but you can try adding a clear coat over your model at the end of the process to restore some clarity.

I have this UV light, on this 3D printed curing chamber. Works great, the only issue is it does not have an on/off switch, so I just hooked it to a smart plug and yell at Alexa to turn it on, I also have it with an auto off switch when it hits 15 minutes, which is helpful cause I used to forget the lamp on all the time.

For most normal size minis, like 10 mins is more than enough, for bigger things, what I do is run 2 cycles and its usually fully cured at the end.

Also, put one of these solar powered rotating disks to help hit the entire mini more evenly.

I am designing a printable strainer basket in order to build a two-bucket IPA wash station similar to the finishing station supplied with the Form2 and other similar midrange resin printers. My initial test object is a small 3in x 5in basket. Since the print volume of low end resin printers is very small and the usual object is even smaller, the objective is to use readily available and inexpensive food containers to reduce the total amount of IPA required.

The design is parametric, so if anyone wants a specific size basket I am happy to generate an STL for you to test. At minimum, please tell me the dimensions of the bottom of your container and the height you would like the handles to extend.

If anyone is willing to print and test, I would like to have feedback on the size of the honeycomb pattern, the depth of the basket, the strength of the handles, and the overall usability.

Fixed: First off, thank you guys so much for your advice. This forum is a huge boon to owning a photon. Passing it forward, the problem was solved after I did the following:

  1. Cleaning the dust out of the room the printer was in and buying an Air purifyier/filter for $50 on Amazon and setting it up so it was right next to the printer, sucking air from underneath the printer where the intake fan is.

  2. After cleaning the room, I bought a bottle of Elegoo Gray. See Here. This stuff is amazing.

Plastic Razors... They work like a charm. You might not want to wait, but I encourage everyone seeing this who owns a resin printer to buy these. They're amazing. (They aren't great at getting stuck prints off of the bed, but off of the FEP and screen? Pure greatness!)

I don't think there is any, at least not that I've found (I was in the same predicament you're in now)

The best way to get custom colors that I've found is to get white (or clear) resin, then dye it. I use about a 2-3% dye to resin ratio when mixing dyes in.

I use this resin

And this brand of dye

I mix it directly in the printer pan, using syringes to get the right amount of dye and resin.
One tip, measure out as close to the exact amount of resin you need (per your slicer) plus about 50mL that way you don't waste resin after you're done with that color (cause you can't put the resin back in the same battle)

Lemme know if you have any questions :)

It's difficult to get the excess resin off of areas that have support. The surface tension causes it to pool.

I recommend getting an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. You can find them on amazon for around $20 USD. Fill the cleaner with isopropyl alcohol and let it vibrate for a few minutes. It will solve the problem.

Alternatively, you can try and scrub out the areas with a toothbrush, but I find that it takes to long and the results aren't as good as the ultrasonic cleaner.

EDIT: I just checked and they are actually closer to $40. I have this one and it works great.

I got 250 of the filters from amazon for like $23. They’re pretty cheap all in all. Have a link!

That looks really cool, I was also considering making a thing myself. But if you would be willing to tweak it for my container, that would be great :)

I'm waiting for my photon to arrive, but I did buy two of these

The interior size is roughly 165mm x 105mm x 100mm this is with a little shaved off for wiggle room (the 100mm is height)

I'll print it with my prusa mk3, so the fact it would be too big for the photon to print is fine by me

I bought a Tupperware containers, lined it with aluminum foil, and then coiled UV LED strips around the interior walls. This works pretty well for me. Not super fast or high-power, but simple, DIY, and easy.

I used this lamp to build my curing chamber. It's a cardboard box with foil and a hole in the top, super simple.

Shake it and strain it (either order). If it's already in your vat, put a funnel and strainer on the bottle and pour it back in. Or use an extra bottle and collect it first and shake it, it should help it strain better.

I use this (the 24W version) inside a metal enclosure for reflectivity; works fine.

For vat removal, I got this from an earlier recommendation. FOSHIO 2PCS Plastic Razor... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BBW1WM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Works way better than the provided scraper and it is plastic so less chance of damage than a metal one.
