i have my astro mixamp connected to my PC and PS4 and get sound through both at the same time without having to move cables around often

I have the mixamp plugged into my PC and get sound through the USB while i have the ps4 connected to the mixamp via Aux. If i decide to play on xbox i can just move the aux cable from the ps4 to the xbox1.

As for chatting i have a Yeti mic for my pc. Since i had an old mixamp with a 2.5mm port for the 360, i bought a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable that goes from the mixamp to the ps4 controller (bought something like this two years ago). i dont know if the newer a40 systems provide the 2.5 to 3.5mm cable or the amp still has the 2.5mm port.

I like having two separate mics because i can easily choose who i want to talk to if im on discord as well as a ps4 party at the same time. I can just mute the mic from astros with the mute toggle on the headset wire or press the mute button on the yeti.

No sweat.

I love it. Hope it works out as well for you. I have a Slim so we likely have the same USB port architecture as compared to the 3-port PS4 Pro.

I recently picked up a headphone stand from Amazon, here’s the link for it: SAMDI Leather Headphone Stand... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQC73FY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The reason I went with this style is because it fully supports the head band, and I like the black leather. I’ve heard people complaining about the stands that only support the center of head band (banana style) and leaves an indent over time.

Here’s pick of my setup: https://imgur.com/a/W0rGbUN

You can use any wired headset with the amp.

You would only need a special cable if the end of your headset cable has separate audio and microphone connections, in that case you would need to get a y-adapter that combines them into a single 4-pole connection.

Sennheiser PCV 05 Combo Audio Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IM36VU0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LPEVCbTX8NP6J

There are less expensive options that work just as well.

Yes you can use the command center as it would be used with the amp regardless of the headset used.

Thanks so much for the response. I just purchased a new cable and it’s in the mail. Here’s the link:

Also, do you know if there is a way for me to access the latest firmware files for the Gen 1 headset/base station? I was unable to find them on the Astro site like they used to be, and I’m worried the firmware file that I used to update is likely outdated (as it was stored locally on my pc for the last few years).

Thanks again!

How much are you looking to spend? One of my personal faves is the fidelio x2. A good set of open back headphones will give your soundstage much more distance and separation.

fidelio x2

Also here is a video I found of a guy using then with a mixamp. You can see they are a lot nicer than the a40 headset

I picked these up: NetDot Gen10 Micro USB Nylon... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JYZCPLG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They’re magnetic micro USB cables. Super easy to disconnect and no wear and tear on the port.

u/Trollbeard_ · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

At this point, you'd really only need something like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BKQVB8N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7F8QDb48CWWPH if the soundbar has an unoccupied optical out then you can just plug the base station for the headset into that. If you're using that port, just plug a splitter like I posted into the TV and then plug the sound bar and base into that.

If the static and issues are from not getting sufficient power you could use a USB Y cable like this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013LQD7Y?ie=UTF8&at=&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links)

Add a USB extender like this and you can provide additional power with the Y cable by plugging the red USB A port to your phone charger(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3P1IGG?ie=UTF8&at=&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links)

I'm guessing since you got them off eBay that it is an A50 with a mini USB B connection and not micro USB. If it is micro then you'll need a different Y cable.

If that doesn't work then you'd need to cut up USB cables to isolate the power and data lines on separate A plugs.

SIDE NOTE: Unless your motherboard sound card supports Dolby Digital Live (most do not) your digital connection to the A50s is stereo audio, so you're not getting the full surround sound experience intended with the A50s.

Easy Amazon buy. That's what I did
Xbox One Talkback Chat Cable for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721T97CD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/v1ndictiv3_ · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

since ps4 supports audio through usb, you could connect the mixamp via toslink, then put one of these into the usb ports: http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS and use that to connect your mic. That way you wouldn't be using the adapter you just posted above. If that still doesn't help, then please reconsider reformatting your question so it's easier to help.

u/Crazygoldfish89 · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

Yes I do this at the moment. Got my a50s connected to pc, Xbox and PS4.

Get a usb switch and tos link switch. They are about £30 each for decent ones.

Sorry, the 20% is only for those who preordered back in July/August. It was a concession for the long delay.

If you want to preorder ahead of the Oct 24th launch date, you can preorder via Amazon:

I had this issue with Gen 1's. For me, it turned out the issue was the crappy cable they include to connect the headset to the controller, or the little 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. What I ended up doing was buy this cable:

https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM

It says the cable is for PS4, but it's exactly what I used to connect between my old A50 and my controller. The echo problem was solved completely.

I know it sounds ridiculous that a cable could fix it, and of course YMMV, but it finally solved the problem for me 100% of the time.
