I have a 2016 CX-5 GT, here's what I ordered and I love every one of them:

  1. Steering wheel cover - Much more comfy to hold, especially in winter with gloves on

  2. Interior LEDs - Better and brighter white color

  3. Cargo Tray - Great for hauling things that would scratch your interior up. Also great for spills. I was hauling a lawn mower that leaked gas. No problem at all. Hosed off the tray and done.

  4. Soft Cargo Liner - This will protect the back of your seats when folded down, and puts a soft pad to protect things you put in the cargo area. Works nice in combination with the Cargo Tray above.

  5. Weathertech Floor Liners - These are great and fit perfectly front and back. I live in a snowy winter area, so these have seen snow, ice, salt, spills, boots, etc. And they hold up excellently. You REALLY want these, trust me.

  6. Moonroof Deflector - The moonroof on my CX-5 was really noisy, this helped a lot. I installed it myself, was a little bit of a pain but anyone could do it.

u/kevintapia12 · 2 pointsr/CX5

Husky Floor Liners.
I did a couple hours of research. I wanted the weather tech ones but the price point made them seem more like a brand recognition than quality.

I went with my husky liners and haven’t looked back. They fit great. I’d say equivalent to weather tech, for less $.

Check them out here:

I got a drawtite hitch from etrailer and highly recommend(https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Mazda/CX-5/2018/76138.html).

I actually bought a curt hitch and didn't like how you had to basically leave a plug zip-tied somewhere(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071S18BY2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Also don't recommend buying a hitch from Amazon because of shady packaging. The packaging was exposing the hitch. I had to use my etrailer packaging to return the hitch because UPS wouldn't accept the packaging that Amazon shipped it in.

I'm a pretty dedicated biker, so having something easy to put the bike in and out was well worth the investment for me.

Highly recommended the Kuat racks.

Awesome def let me know, that would be great. I was looking at one similar ($135) but most were Honda Pilot reviews so I was not sure. Also, let me know if the one you purchased auto retracts when the trunk is open. Thanks! :)

Here's what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075S2PD88/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I received it, the box was damaged and after I unpacked it, I noticed the plastic handles by the stays that attach to the liftgate in my CX-5 were snapped off. I initiated a return with Amazon, super easy, and the second one came without any damage. The fit for the bar by the rear seats is "firmly tight", the little tiebacks attach to the headrests on the back seat and close the gap between the bar and the seats. The cover then has metal hook snaps that attach to the stays installed on the liftgate door. It moves smoothly and the liftgate motor doesn't seem to even notice it's there. Plus my cargo area is now covered, out of the sun, and out of sight. Plus I can remove it in maybe three minutes with some light grumbling. LOL.

u/getevlcted · 1 pointr/CX5

Hahha thanks man, you too! I'm VERY nervous... I've never done this before LOL good luck with yours too if you end up opting in to doing it yourself.

I bought this tool to help me remove some of the pieces.

u/whoizaghost · 2 pointsr/CX5

okay so like the comment below 303 is simple and easy. I don"t use it much as its not readily available here in Toronto.

Things i do use:

For the dash board and any plastic inside the car i use:

https://www.amazon.com/Mothers-05324-Protectant-24-oz/dp/B0007RDVGG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487704916&sr=8-1&keywords=mothers+interior

OR

https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G13616-Interior-Detailer-Cleaner/dp/B000AMLWH8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705281&sr=8-1&keywords=meguiars%2Binterior%2Bcleaner&th=1

For the carpets i do 2 thing when i am in a hurry ill use:

https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-50572-Rubber-Cleaner/dp/B00PKE6NNY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1487704985&sr=8-12&keywords=turtle+wax+interior+cleaner

Just spray some on the carpet and after a quick vacuum then do a good vacuum job this can take like 30 mins once you get the hang of it.

when i have time i use:

https://www.amazon.com/BISSELL-1400B-Multi-Purpose-Portable-Cleaner/dp/B0016HF5GK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705069&sr=8-2&keywords=bissell+little+green

The second method is simple just follow the instructions it came with and this item usually goes on sale there are better ones that keep the water heated.

They also both give the car a nice smell after cleaning i don't have leather seats so i can say much about it.

as for windows there 2 steps i do as well:

I use

https://www.amazon.com/Invisible-Glass-Premium-Cleaner-91164/dp/B0007OWD2M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705440&sr=8-2&keywords=invisible+glass

Then polish the exterior and where is no tint with

https://www.amazon.com/3M-800002242-RAIN-X-WINDSHIELD-TREATMENT-3-5/dp/B000WNED08/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705503&sr=8-13&keywords=rain+x+glass+cleaner

The second step is a bit tedious so if you are not comfortable stick with step 1.

The thing that also really good to have is good clothes for cleaning the more the better Micro fibre cloth's are the best.

https://www.amazon.com/RAG-COMPANY-Professional-Microfiber-POLISHING/dp/B0166U4PVC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705636&sr=8-1&keywords=micro+fiber+rag+company

and for glass:

https://www.amazon.com/RAG-COMPANY-Microfiber-Professional-STREAK-FREE/dp/B00WC5KQGE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1487705755&sr=8-5&keywords=rag+company+glass

After wiping the class with step one and then its dry i usually just follow up with a dry microfiber cloth to pick up any little dirt i left behind.

If i left anything behind let me know ill make a full post once summer comes around with maybe a video of sorts but there is alot of information also to r/autodetailing wiki post and sorry for the format if its not up to standards this is my first long post.

Yeah super easy I think it took 30 minutes total to replace all the lights. The only one I had issues with the lift gate light, I had a hard time figuring out how to get to it. I used this kit it came with a little prying tool to get the lights out. I like them because they give off a much cooler light, which I feel makes the interior feel more modern/luxurious look.

u/eb846 · 1 pointr/CX5

I love mine as well.
Cargo Cover For 2017 2018 Mazda Cx-5 Black Retractable Trunk Shielding Shade by Kaungka(Updated Version:There is no gap between the back seats and the cover) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075S2PD88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PNW5Cb45SQ9A2
That’s the one I bought. Super easy to install and no rattling.

u/k4ppu · 1 pointr/CX5

I bought these for my '17 and they work perfectly. I have Parchment Leather in and these are a little darker gray/krem. I like them and then seem to be good quality. Had them for a year now.

I've got a 2016.5 CX-5 Touring, just went and measured. From back hatch to end of center console is 67". With passenger seat pushed all the way forward, you can get to about 77". I've laid down diagonal (I'm 5'10', medium build) and it's doable, though not very comfortable. Better would probably be one of those tri-fold mattresses (link below), which fits perfectly if you move passenger seat full forward and lay down 60% of the back seat. I've laid the mattress in (it's 75" x 25" unfolded) and it fits great, feels comfy, but I haven't yet slept on it that way :)

u/8BitBanger · 1 pointr/CX5

I like this mount so much it's moved now between probably 5 or 6 cars that I've owned. You slightly back out the passenger seat rail bolt, slip this beneath, re-tighten. Some may be uncomfortable with messing with the seat bolt, but as long as the bolt still fully engages the threads and you tighten it you're fine.

You will need what's referred to as a reverse Torx, or Torx socket for the seat bolt.

If this is the exact model as mine, it's somewhere between 12-18", so it puts the holder right about level with my center console in the '19 CX5. I would recommend a slightly longer version.

Would Amazon be a good option for you? I purchase these from Amazon (had Weathertech in my previous vehicle) and I really like these.

I second the 3D Maxpider, had it almost a year now in my 2017 CX-5. Looks great, cleans easily. Amazon has it for a few dollars less than Walmart.

3D MAXpider L1MZ05801509 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHFWFWL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_25kVAb4NVGTGP

u/schirmyver · 6 pointsr/CX5

Those notches are for the cargo cover, but as that attaches to the lift gate the cargo cover itself would not be useful or user friendly.

You could though probably find a tension type rod that would fit inside those notches just to give you something to drape clothes over. Most of those tension curtain rods are pretty flimsy, but maybe a pull-up bar would work, https://smile.amazon.com/Boddenly-Exercise-Without-Installation-Mechanism/dp/B07T49QH62

Another thought would be to use 3M command hooks, https://smile.amazon.com/Command-Outdoor-Metallic-Bronze-AW083BZ-3NA/dp/B076ZYXZT4 , so you can add some hooks in the back without damaging the interior and then add a cargo net of some sort like this, https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07MQT9KYP .

Another thought, simple & maybe stupid, but some plastic milk crates. Right side up they would allow you to organize stuff. Up-side down they would give you a large flat platform for items to dry.

Seems like there are a bunch of similar ones on amazon. Any with decent reviews seem like they will do fine.

These are the ones I got. They did fine and the color temperature matches the LED headlights pretty well. Includes all interior lighting and license plate lights.

These are some alternatives

1- I got these from my dealership, they are "ok":

https://fdflex.com/en/.

2- Apparently these fit according to the forum and can be purchased from rock-auto:

TRICO 1817B (18-17B) Pass Side Wiper Blade
TRICO 2417B (24-17B) Driver Side Wiper Blade

3 - I also read that these will fit as well, though I'm not 100% sure and they are more expensive as they are silicone

I recently picked up some Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner for like $5 at Walmart, based on the Wirecutter’s recommendation. It works great. I had a dashboard that had picked up a lot of dust and wouldn't really wipe clean because the surface is kind of sticky, and now it looks brand new.

u/yurilegs · 2 pointsr/CX5

Here’s the Amazon link. Yes, I installed it myself. Didn’t wanna pay $300 for labor lol

u/eraser851 · 8 pointsr/CX5

I upgraded the Interior LEDs, Floor Mats, and Cargo Mat. Installed a dashcam.
Also, here's a cool little hack where you can disable the headlights on the Daytime Running Lights so that just the LED is on. It looks sweet!

This works perfectly for my 2016. I haven't seen anything about being able to replace the rubber insert on the rear blade.

u/second_ary · 1 pointr/CX5

cool i think i'll try them. is there a specific brand? are these the ones everyone has good experience with?

u/RanchDressing_ · 1 pointr/CX5

I am a clean person but the interior of my '17 CX-5 gets filled with dust and fingerprints every day. Not good for an OCD person :P
I kept a microfiber cloth in the car to wipe stuff off but I think it put swirls/scratches in the piano gloss black plastic trim so I stopped using it.

I got some Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer though. Says it should it be safe to use on all the surfaces, but what do you guys think?

u/led1002 · 4 pointsr/CX5

The hardest part was the firmware upgrade. The installation of the hardware was easy. You can find the kits on Amazon now for about $165.

I have a 2019. I bought the install kit for $160 on amazon. You have to be somewhat mechanically inclined because you have to remove the whole center console and part of the dash. There are some YouTube videos on how to do it.

BEFORE YOU BUY!

  1. these are not premium bulbs. Do they look good? Yes. Only one bulb has gone out in a year and a half. I purchased the exact same kit and when I replaced the one license plate bulb that went out, i noticed there is a slight shade of difference between the bulbs I bought a year and a half ago and the new ones. but when I first purchased the set of bulbs, they all looked the same color.
  2. I had to buy a separate cargo light. the one provided was not really bright especially with the dark interior. I had to special order it off an LED website. I forget where I got it. But I just looked for one that put out more light. It helped a lot.
  3. the license plate light cover takes a bit of force to pop off. I was scared at first to do it but it is fine. Just don't know you're going to need to apply a little bit of pressure to get it to pop off
u/nouvie · 3 pointsr/CX5

It's not a huge thing, but I've enjoyed this upgrade.

The cargo privacy cover is definitely worth the bucks.

When camping, be careful of draining your battery. I camped last week, charged 3 cell phones and played the radio for about 45 minutes at low volume, then didn't have enough juice to start the car in the morning. After a jump I had an error regarding the electronic parking brake (don't engage the brake if you're at risk of killing the battery while parked) - it went away after a couple of drives, but it had me a little worried.
